Cape Coral, Florida (The Weekly Vice) Viola Heineman, an 81-year-old Florida woman, was arrested Wednesday after she allegedly stalked a neighbor and then attempted to beat a victim's advocate with her cane.
According to the Cape Coral Police Department, Heineman repeatedly harassed a neighbor and her son, chastising the woman's son for being gay. Heineman also accused the mother of being sexually promiscuous, stating that she was "lifting her legs for any man out there."
Investigators say, an officer and a victim's advocate were dispatched to Heineman's home where they attempted to resolve the situation between the two neighbors.
They explained to Heineman that the calls were causing the victims to fear for their safety and they had stopped going outside for fear of running into her.
The victim's advocate was explaining different services available to Heineman when she walked out of the room and sat down in the living room. The victim's advocate tried to finish the conversation in the living room but police say Heineman would not listen.
Officers say Heineman pointed at the victim advocate and denied making the calls which were captured on the neighbor's answering machine. She then raised a metal cane up over her head and said to the victim's advocate, "I'm going to hit you with this."
The officers took away the cane and arrested Heineman.
Heineman was booked into the Lee County Jail on charges of stalking, cyberstalking and aggravated assault. She was released Thursday under a pretrial program without having to pay bail.
