April Seville Dismissed Her Students - Except For One

Perkins, Ohio (The Weekly Vice) - April E. Seville, a 35-year-old Perkins High School teacher, was jailed after she allegedly had a sexual relationship with one of her students.

According to police, Seville engaged in inappropriate contact with a male sophomore whom she taught on several occasions beginning last year. The relationship was revealed to school officials on June 2nd after someone saw Seville and the 17-year-old kissing in the classroom after dismissal.

Investigators say Seville admitted to the allegations. She is married and has a 16-year-old son, 9-year-old daughter, and 2-year-old granddaughter. Police have been called to the couple's home in the past when Mr. Seville threatened suicide over the loss of his job.

Seville began her position at Perkins High School in 2008, a year after she graduated from Bowling Green State University, earning a bachelor's degree. She taught creative writing and English. Seville has now been ordered to stay off school property and turn in her keys to the school. Her case will also be reviewed by the Ohio Department of Education, to decide whether or not her teaching license should be revoked.

School officials say Seville had no other problems with the school before this incident, and that she had developed a "mutual respect" with her students. She was reportedly "passionate about teaching," according to her personal file.

Seville was booked into the Erie County Jail and charged with felony sexual battery. Her bond was set at $10,000 with 10% option.

This is not Perkins High School's first go-around in the naughty teacher department. This spring, Carol Smith, a history teacher, reportedly fell asleep frequently during school hours, and engaged in inappropriate pornographic discussions with her freshmen students.
