Thomas Smoak Was One Angry Bloke - Jailed After Driving To School With Loaded Shotgun, Angry Over Son’s Suspension

Athens, Alabama (The Weekly Vice) - Thomas Smoak, a 51-year-old Athens man, was jailed after he allegedly drove to his son's high school to discuss his recent suspension, carrying a loaded shotgun.

According to the Athens Police Department, Smoak's son was suspended from school for five days because he used inappropriate language.

Officers were later called to Athens High School after receiving a call stating the student's father was on his way with a shotgun, unhappy over punishment his son received.

Police arrived at the school less then a minute after they received the call. Moments later, they saw what they believed to be Smoak approaching the area. He turned onto the campus, but quickly left the grounds when he saw the police.

Police stopped Smoak near the school and immediately placed him under arrest. They searched his vehicle and recovered a 12-gauge shotgun loaded with seven rounds of buckshot. He also had three more rounds in his pocket.

Smoak was booked into the Limestone County Jail and charged with possession of a firearm on school grounds and making a terrorist threat. Bond was set at $500,000 for each charge.
