Charles Byrd Jumped From The Frying Pan Into The Fire - Jailed After Fleeing Police, Hiding In Marijuana Grow House

Sugar Hill, Georgia (The Weekly Vice) - Charles Byrd, a 23 -year-old Georgia man, was arrested Saturday for allegedly fleeing police for DUI which lead them back to his house-- which was full of pot.

According to the Gwinnett Police Department, a DUI task force officer tried to stop Byrd’s car after seeing him commit several traffic violations. Byrd refused to pull over for the officer and leaped from his car, running to a nearby home.

Investigators say after Byrd ran into the house and locked the door, more police were called to the scene. Police surrounded the home and Byrd eventually came out - along with the strong smell of pot.

While dealing with Byrd, officers found 25-year-old Timothy Donahue hidden inside the house. Police also found and seized 69 marijuana plants, 1,490 grams of processed pot, and marijuana-cultivating equipment. The confiscated pot totaled more than $327,000.

Byrd was booked into the Gwinnett County Detention Center on charges of driving under the influence, driving with an expired tag and no headlights after dark, making an improper turn, not having his license with him while driving and possession of marijuana with the intent to sell.

Donahue was also booked into the Gwinnett County Detention Center on charges of possession of marijuana with the intent to sell

Both men are being held without bond.
