McGee, KY (The Weekly Vice) - Jackson County High School students, Corinne Schwab and Ashley Sams, both 18, and an unnamed 17-year-old girl were jailed Tuesday after they allegedly tried to push a classmate off of a cliff because she is a lesbian.

According to Kentucky State Police, the three girls were supposedly taking the victim to a job interview when they instead took her to Flat Lick Falls against her will. The foursome had reportedly been best friends since the sixth grade.

Investigators say the girls then beat the teen because of her sexual orientation, then attempted to push her over a cliff, which would have resulted in her death.

The victim was able to escape by swinging a stick at the girls before fleeing the area to search for help. The girls caught up with her and tried to force her back into the car, but let her go on the promise she would not tell anyone what had happened.

The victim was able to record a video of the attack on her cell phone, which reportedly backs up the girl's claim that the attack was based on her sexual orientation.

The teens who are charged say the attack was meant to be a prank, however detectives allege the evidence does not support that claim.

Schwab and Sams were booked into the Jackson County Jail and charged with kidnapping and criminal attempt to commit murder. They were both released on bond until their court dates.

The 17-year-old juvenile remains jailed and is due in court Thursday.

This incident happened on a National Day of Silence for those who are gay.

I wonder if committing the crime on that particular day was part of the plan.

Mr. Bowtie: Well, they did try to make to her promise not to tell ...
Seriously, a "prank" that involves beating someone and pushing them off a cliff? Is that how they learn to spell "attempted murder" in Kentucky?
Maybe they should follow the example suggested in a post below and lock them up with a few people who are stronger and meaner than they are ...
If you're not sleeping with somebody, it's none of your goddamned business what their sexual orientation is.

It's unbelievable that this group of girls would gang up on a childhood friend over something so irrelevant to who she truly is! I'm so glad they didn't succeed in their sick & twisted plan to kill this young lady. Just wait until the other inmates hear about their "prank" & their feelings towards the lesbian population.

It's actually not just for those who are gay. From www.dayofsilence.org...

"On the National Day of Silence hundreds of thousands of students nationwide take a vow of silence to bring attention to anti-LGBT name-calling, bullying and harassment in their schools."

It's all the more obscene and disgusting that these girls who were supposed to be her friends (IE, to provide love and support) were the ones who perpetrated such an act. It makes me sick. All the more reason to start early in teaching your kids not to discriminate.
