Tampa, FL (The Weekly Vice) - Matthew David Lopez, an 18-year-old Tampa teen was jailed after he reportedly wore a clown mask in public, then ran from police.
According to the Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office, a deputy spotted a teen wearing a clown mask with bright red-orange hair walking down the street with a friend around 1:00 p.m.
The officer followed the suspects as they walked through a wooded path behind some office buildings. When the officer tried to make contact with the teens, they fled the scene.
The suspects were apprehended a short time later, and the teen wearing the mask was identified as Lopez. Why he was wearing the mask is unclear.
Lopez was booked into jail and charged with wearing a mask or hood in public and resisting an officer without violence. He was released after posting $750 bail.
The other teen, who was not named, was also arrested.
This is uncommon, but not the first arrest of this nature. The law was put into effect in 1951 to combat the Klu Klux Klan.

LoL so clown mask = KKK member now? uhhh i dunno even what to say. I would like to know if this kid even had any record at all before this. I Doubt it. I might sue if that was me and it was just something the kid was doing to have fun.
Also..i wonder if this has anything to do with cops' childhoods being scared of clowns. So they call juggalos gangs and arrest anyone with a clown mask.lol

Yep. Got arrested back in the 80's for driving a car while wearing a gorilla suit. Trouble was, it was Halloween, and I was driving between 2 haunted house jobs and didn't have time to change. Didn't matter.

Well I'm glad to read that serious crime in Florida has all been eradicated. There for awhile it was looking like the inmates were running the asylum.
Why did the cop waste time following the teens instead of just asking him to simply take the mask off in the first place?

This is absolutely ridiculous! First of all, I'm pretty sure that this kid isn't a member of the KKK. I truly wish he didn't run from the police; this obviously shows he had a socially adapted instinct to disobey law enforcement. Which topically is associated with conducting oneself in a manner to being up to "no-good" on a regular basis. However though, with that being said these retarded laws need to be addressed. Hell, in my county it's illegal for a black man to be within city limits from sundown to sunup (yes, this is a law still on the books)!!!! There's at least 100 black officers that I know of that work grave shift. OUR LAWS NEED TO GET WITH THE TIMES!
Yup, I have been quiet on this one for some reason. Why is it that just because he chose to wear a clown mask he is a juggalo? I don't get the juggalo vibe from this guy one bit. Who knows why he was wearing it, but I don't think that's it.
