Pensacola, Florida (The Weekly Vice) – 23-year-old Robert G. Ellingson and 25-year-old Maghen Duvala were jailed after they allegedly attempted to sell their 2-month-old baby for $30 in two different parking lots.
According to Escambia County police, Ellinson attempted to sell his own child to two PetsMart store patrons after they refused a beer that he offered them in the parking lot.
The customers dismissed the man at first thinking it was a joke, but when the mother of the baby confirmed that they were in fact trying to sell their baby, the patrons promptly called the police.
Investigators say that the couple also attempted to sell their child in a bank parking lot a few hours before the incident at PetsMart.
Ellison and Duvala were both booked into Escambia County Jail and charged with five counts of child neglect apiece. Ellison’s bail was set at $27,000 and Duvall’s bail was set at $15,000.

why was bail different for both?
Regardless that baby is better off now than had they kept and probably killed it later.
Maybe now it will have a chance in life.
Kudos to the ones who called them in.
Bail could be different due to different criminal histories.
and to think, you drive 70 hours per hour down a highway with think tanks like this.
what? no drug charges?...anyway, a healthy white baby boy generally goes for about 70 grand...sounds like a bargain here...
at least they were smart enough to know that they were way to stupid take care of a child, too bad they didn't figure it out about 11 months sooner...
I think this would be an excellent case for advancing the idea of mandated sterilization in criminal cases. But then again, I believe if you commit murder, you should forfeit your own life, as you obviously fail miserably as a human being. These two fail the parent test in spades.
Based on their intelligence and genes, I don't think the baby was worth $30. Garbage in, garbage out.
I hope they realize they would have to sell 1400 children to raise that kind of bail.
