Truck Driver With The Nicest Melons In Town Caught With 800 Pounds Of Mariijuana

Marion County, FL (The Weekly Vice) - Richard Coulton, a 31-year-old Orlando man was arrested Thursday after authorities found an itsy bitsy bit of marijuana in his truck. A mere 800 pounds of it, nestled among crates of melons.

According to the Florida Dept. of Transportation, Coulton was traveling from Arizona to Miami when he was pulled over on Interstate I-75 in Marion County.

The truck, which was based out of Orlando, was boarded after the FDOT officer noticed Coulton was acting a bit strange.

Nestled among cartons of cantaloupe, were two pallets that contained brown paper packages. One of the packages were reportedly torn, revealing a leafy green substance inside. A canine unit was then called in which indicated a positive hit for marijuana.

In court, Coulton told the judge he was "shocked" when officers found marijuana in his truck. He went on to deny any knowledge of the marijuana. (after all, it was only 800 pounds worth).

Coulton was booked into the Marion County Jail on charges of marijuana trafficking. His bail was originally set at $500,000, before the judge lowered it to $50,000.

Damn 800 lbs? Holy shit! That's like a million dollars there!

Think of how many charities could use that money...
Instead the police will probably burn it ... So stupid.....

Well, good on the judge who lowered his half a million dollar bond; that's ridiculous, folks... they were only melons, after all.
Should legalize melons and this wouldn't be happening every week. It's a waste of taxpayer's dollars and look how it's ruined this guy's day.
What would NORML say (National Organization for Reformation of Melon Laws) to this, I wonder?
(I have no idea why I find this so terribly funny, but I do...)

This sounds like the set up for a joke! (Black man, munchies, watermelon...)

He didn't know it was there??? That means there's some poor guy out there thinking, "Now where the hell did I sit that weed down?"

I would think that it would cross my mind on a 2,000 mile trip of why are there no melons grown closer to my destination? Nah, he didn't know.

Is there a sign by the panhandle that says, "Welcome to Florida - Lowest Bail anywhere!"

Nearly three-quarters-of-a-century after it was made illegal; half-a-century after it was proven to be practically harmless - why is it still a crime to possess and smoke marijuana?

Here is a list of ten famous people who died as a result of nicotine abuse:

Humphrey Bogart
Edward R. Murrow
Nat King Cole
George Harrison
John Huston
Noel Coward
Betty Grable
Walt Disney
Gary Cooper
Peter Jennings

Here is another list. Ten famous people who died from alcoholism:

Billie Holiday
Jack Kerouac
Truman Capote
Lorenz Hart
Veronica Lake
Bix Beiderbecke
Montgomery Clift
Dylan Thomas
John Barrymore
Errol Flynn

Now I'm going to ask you to name for me one celebrity who has died from too much grass.

Go on, I'm waiting. Is it a "gateway drug" as they never tire of reminding us? Yeah, it probably is. But so is Pabst Blue Ribbon. Get a grip.

WHOA..WHAT KIND OF DISTORTED LOGIC IS THIS???

It all boils down to the fact that it is illegal period. Whether it is bad for you or not is irrelevant. You know you are breaking the law if you have it and use it. Get a grip and find a new hobby. Do whatever you can to have the laws changed. People always sit around and gripe about wasted tax dollars and how it’s not bad for you. If it’s really not bad for you, then there shouldn’t be much trouble in getting the laws changed. It does surprise me though that the govt hasn’t made it legal. I can’t believe they would turn down all that tax revenue. Hell they could probably cut income tax in half for what they would make off marijuana sales.

GET IT OVER WITH AND LEGALIZE IT.

Ida_Slapter said...

Big deal! Less than 100 years ago there were no laws against cocaine, heroine, opium...

I hope that's not your best arguement.

Good God mrbowtie, it's not like he was moving 800 lbs of heroin. It's WEED! His bail was set at 500 large, and the judge even lowered it. Puhleease. The social stigma isn't there anymore for the stuff. When's the last time you heard of anyone OD-ing on weed? Tax the hell out of it, help the economy, and get the law enforcement people on to something more important and pressing.

Here we go with this whole "weed should be legal" debate that we have every time one of these stores gets posted. We have a lot of strong opinions on both sides of he debate don't we?

Gee, what great luck for the officers that one of the packages was torn!

I have been smoking pot hash weed whatever you would like to call it for over 20yrs, can you imagine the amount of extra revenue in taxes the Government has lost out on from just one person, just like the Prohibition of alcohol in the 20's, losing the Government billions in the 13yrs it was law.

As for the gateway drug thing, anybody with any common sense knows that the gateway drug is and will always be ALCOHOL

Lol that sucks!! 800 POUNDS!!!!! Yep they are definately trying to make him snitch!!!

Mr./Ms. Slapter,
Please give me one good reason why all those substances you mention should be illegal. If you're at it please also show me where in the Constitution does it say the government even has the AUTHORITY to ban personal pursuit of happiness. I would argue that the alcohol prohibition amendment that was added (and later specifically repealed) from mentioned document clearly shows that any such prohibition must be specifically added as an amendment to the Constitution.

Drugs are a medical problem, we are 70 years and countless life's late in understanding this -- to the benefit and delight of violent drug cartels around the world, and their pocket politicians/judges/journalists.

Sad, I usually somewhat enjoy your occasional wit, it seems on this issue you are just as brainwashed as the rest of the sheep.
