Granton, WI (The Weekly Vice) - Mary Strey, a 49-year-old Granton woman was jailed for a DWI after she called 911 on herself for drunk driving.
According to a Clark County deputy, 911 dispatchers received a call from Stray Saturday, Oct. 24th around 11:30 p.m. .
Investigators state that Strey called 911 to report a drunk driver. When the dispatcher asked her if she was driving behind the suspect, she stated that she actually was the drunken suspect.
Stray admitted to the dispatcher that she had been drinking all night long and that she didn’t want to hurt anyone because she was drunk.. She followed the dispatcher’s advice to pull over and turn on her hazards until police arrived.
Officers conducted a breathalyzer test, which showed Strey’s blood alcohol level to be at least twice the legal limit. Officers state that she had slurred speech, was stumbling around, swaying back and forth, and could not correctly perform the tests.
Strey was booked into jail on charges of drunk driving. Bond amount was not available.
Below is the a recording of the 911 call
The Weekly Vice Opinion:
I actually commend this lady. She did the right thing before she potentially destroyed someone’s life. I wish all drunk drivers could be as smart as this one. She would have been even smarter though if she would not have attempted to drive in the first place.......

Wow, this has got to be a first! Kudos to her for saving her life and perhaps the lives of some others too. Dumb decision to drive for sure, but she sure has to face the consequences.
Glad I don't have to call this one ...
"You am them?"
Ha! This video is going straight to my facebook page! Thanks for the laugh Mandi!
WTH the cop didn't have to embellish the story with the "slurred speech" statement. She already confessed! Her speech wasn't slurred in the call to 911.
Something tells me she's not a fun drunk.
Some people get a little drunk and get some "stray".
This time it was a "Strey" that got a little drunk.
Obviously her judgement was impaired. Otherwise being in possesion of a phone she could have stopped the car and called a cab instead of a cop.
2x on the not a fun drunk comment.
Funny, but I am glad to hear nobody got hurt.
I'm hopelessly torn between deep respect and laughing hysterically.
"I am them" lol.... absolutely classic...
