Edinburgh, Scotland (The Weekly Vice) - Francis Murphy, a 26-year-old Scottish man was jailed after he gouged out his former girlfriend’s eyeball and threw it over a balcony.
According to police, Murphy used a metal coat hanger last May to gouge out the eye of his former girlfriend, 27-year-old Natalie Farrell. He then threw her eye from an eight floor balcony of her home.
Investigators say that Farrell ended her 10-year relationship with Murphy and found another boyfriend.
Murphy came to her home, attacked her new boyfriend, then grabbed her and stated that he was going to take her eye out because he never wanted her to look at other men again with both eyes..
Murphy tried to get his thumb and two fingers into her eye to pull it out, but that didn’t work so he went for a coat hanger. He then strangled her until she blacked out and proceeded to take out her eye.
When Farrell regained conciseness, her eye was on her cheek hanging by the optic nerve. Murphy then ripped it off and threw it over the balcony. Friends who witnessed the incident found it lying in the street and gave it to paramedics. They were not able to re-attach Farrell’s eye. She is still being assessed for an artificial eye.
Murphy’s defense attorney blamed his actions on tangled emotions, drugs, and drinking - stating that Murphy was struggling to come to terms with what had happened.
Judge John Morris, who sentenced Murphy, described his crimes as “almost medieval in their barbarity, which would make any right-thinking person recoil in horror."
Murphy was jailed on charges of attempted murder. He was sentenced to 12 years.

I don't understand why - if the judge thought the crime was "medieval" in its barbarity - the punishment didn't match it.
well, at least he choked her out before the deed...so, that would make him semi barbaric....the judge saw that

Seriously, bring back the gibbet or the brazen bull and make lessons out of these tough guys = less crime. Hooray less crime!
There aint nothin funny here, people, the man is scum and should have one of his own eyes ripped out. More biblical than medieval, but fitting nonetheless.

Seems to me that an appropriate punishment would have been to first remove his Johnson without the benefit of anesthesia and then chop off both hands the same way. THEN....hand down a life sentence. Who wants a sick bastard like this on the streets, even if its years down the road.
