South Daytona, FL (The Weekly Vice) - Ronald Clark Thornton, a 56-year-old Department of Children and Families (DCF) employee was jailed after he allegedly molested a 7-year-old girl.
According to the Volusia County Sheriff's Office, Thornton was at his son’s house Saturday to watch a football game when he molested a 7-year-old girl who was visiting his granddaughter.
Investigators state Thornton led the girl into the bathroom and quickly closed the door behind them.
Thornton’s son heard the door close and when he asked if everything was ok, he heard his father reply that they would be out in a minute. A few minutes later, Thornton suspiciously left his son’s home in a haste.
Thornton’s son asked the girl what happened in the bathroom. Reluctantly, she told him that Thornton took her into the bathroom and made her hold his penis while he put his finger in her vagina. The man immediately turned his father over to police.
Thornton is employed with the food stamp division of DCF as a processor. Police state that he is not involved with children on the job.
Although this was the first time Thornton was arrested, police believe that it’s possible this was not his first victim.
Thornton was booked into the Volusia County Jail on charges of sexual battery on a child under the age of 12. Bond has not yet been set in the case.

I can’t believe this man had the nerve to commit this horrifying act with his family in close proximity! If he was that brazen this time, I can see why police believe that there are other victims!

something seems Fishy here his son knew his dad and 7 yr old went to the bathroom together??
If I knew he was in the bathroom with a 7-year-old girl I would have busted that door down! The nerve of this man! He seemed to not even care that he may get caught. It's almost like he has a compulsion to molest children. They need to keep him locked up and away from any more children!
Could there be any moment in life that would be lower than having to turn in your own father for being a child molester?
So many people are affected in cases like this one. The poor little girl that was the victim has to deal with this the rest of her life, the granddaughter will be scared from it, the son will have to live knowing his dad is a pedophile. All this because a dirty old man couldn’t control himself… what a shame.
Poor kid. Just sad for her.
That is why I do NOT allow my children to go unattended to anyone's house...I would kick the door down and then kick my father's ass before the cops came...
The comment about controlling himself got me thinking....
What about men that DO WANT to have sex with children, but control themselves. We'd never know, it is their own private thoughts...it could be OUR fathers!

I have a bad feeling that this guy's done this plenty of times before finally getting caught. Seems a lot of criminals tend to be less careful, more brazen as they progress in their dumbassery.
Also, this guy looks like Sesame Street's "Burt."
How hard would it be to make THAT call to the cops? The son is more of a man than his pervert pops will ever be.... OMG, He does look like Burt!!!!
From the way the story is written it seems perhaps the son had an inkling what pops was up to. Maybe something from when he was young.
Kudos to him for putting and end to it once and for all.
This man was my case worker. I am mortified is disgusted that this man is even still alive and walking. Hangings should become legal.
