Jefferson City, MO (The Weekly Vice) - Alyssa Bustamante, a 15-year-old Jefferson City teen was arrested after she murdered her 9-year-old neighbor because “she wanted to know what it felt like”.
According to Jefferson City police, Bustamante stabbed Elizabeth Olten, slashed her throat and buried her in one of two graves that she dug a week before the murder. Authorities will not elaborate what the other grave was for.
Investigators say a search was launched for the 4th-grader after she was reported missing October 21.
Police found what they are calling “written evidence” that led them to Bustamante, who showed them where Olten’s body was, according to investigators. Bustamante was promptly arrested.
When asked why she killed the little girl, Bustamante stated that she just wanted to know what it felt like to kill someone.
Bustamante’s friends and family describe her as a bright and normal teenager up until she was 13, when she tried to commit suicide. She had been receiving mental help for her depression.
Bustamante had many online profiles, some of which speak of “pain and terrors”. Bustamante has a video on YouTube where her and her brothers were shocking themselves on an electric fence. Her YouTube profile lists her favorite hobbies as “killing people” and “cutting”.
Bustamante’s profile and video have since been removed from the site.
Bustamante was placed in juvenile detention and charged with first degree murder. Prosecutors say she'll stand trial as an adult.

This is sick and disturbing. Where are the adults of this 15-year old kid? How come she was allowed to roam around alone, well in fact they already knew she had sort of a mental sickness?
Oh my, what a charming young lady. I hope they put this piece of human trash in the deepest pit, in the darkest prison and keep her there forever. This is no place in society for a monster like this.
When you dig the grave(s) in advance you've pretty well made the prosecutors case for premeditation which is the requirement for first degree murder.

Thank God they are charging her as an adult! It's about time that the kid gloves were taken off! Most people with depression don't murder children to see what it feels like. Hopefully this piece of garbage will spend the rest of her life in a maximum security prison.

Miss Bustamante is on suicide watch because she keeps trying to kill herself..... WITH HER FINGERNAILS. She is just trying to get into a mental hospital instead of prison.
What a creepy girl though. Her pics are disturbing, not because of the content, but mebause you can just look at her face and tell it is the face of a killer.
Also, they are saying that she came from a broken home, and there are mug shots of her father out there. He is in jail for a "violent crime". Her mom has a few charges under her belt to for marijuana and DWI.
BUT that is no excuse. Plenty of kids come from broken homes and never kill anyone. I hope that she ends up in prison and not a hospital. I don't care if she was cutting her arms before the murder (you can see the scars on some of her pics). She will have it too easy in a hospital....
I am with you Juggs, she needs to go to prison or maybe they should just turn their backs on her for a few hours in a room full of sharps. Broken home or not, there is no excuse for what she did. She is old enough to know the difference in right and wrong. One of my best friends is from a broken home. He is one of the nicest and most level headed people I know despite his family's reputation.
As a result of her curiosity, let's give her additional opportunity to "see what it feels like" to die from a lethal injection. I hope the bleeding heart liberals don't end up getting this piece of human trash prosecuted as a juvenile as opposed to an adult eligible for the death penalty.
I've seen the same people that say that 15 year old is a "kid" when the teachers have sex with them, but are now saying that this 15 year ole should be tried as an adult.
It looks like some people are so frustrated with their own lives, that they just want to see someone "pay"

Wow, I'm glad there's at least a couple of you here towards the end that don't think she deserves to lose her life because she's obviously mentally ill. Thank god some of you can reason. This girl is obviously sick, but some people can get better. And you people saying "she looks like a serial killer" or w/e, are ridiculous. You're the same people who outcast people who are different and make their lives difficult driving them to do 'these' sorts of things. Columbine anybody? I think, first of all, that these teachers in these schools nowadays should be worrying about teaching the kids instead of sleeping with them, because obviously the kids don't know how to spell for shit! BTW when I see <3 I think "asshat". Call me dumb but wtf does this mean?

I just spent two days in the Morgan county jail with this monster,this girl did NOT have any remorse at ALL for what she done to that poor little babygirl and what is worse is i have a 9 year old son,it sickened me beyond words to even be in this monster's presence!She absoulutly is NOTTTTTTT mentally ill,she was as normal as could be,she knew exactly what she was doing and she has no remorse at all for doing it,they need to do to her what she did to that little girl and may she burn in Hell for eternity!!!It sickened me how she acted in there while i was in there,like she hadnt just gone and planned a murder and killed a 9 year old child!!She is a MONSTER and deserves no less then what she did to that child!!

October 2009 is when it all started to happen Alyssa Bustamante started thinking about what it would be like to kill someone. One would wonder why such a young child of only 15 would be thinking this instead of going out with friends and talking about boys. But Alyssa Had more to think about then that, In 2002 Alyssa’s grandmother was named her legal guardian along with her three younger siblings. Her dad went to jail for stabbing someone and her mom was addicted to drugs and could no longer take care of them. In September 2007 Alyssa tried to kill herself three times (Cutting her wrists and eating a whole bottle of Tylenol). She was then hospitalized and received therapy daily. She was also put on the antidepressant drug Prozac. She had always been known as Goth, always wearing black. Her Facebook hobbies included “cutting and killing people”. She also had Youtube videos of her telling her two younger twin brothers to touch an electric fence.
On October 15 2009 Alyssa dug two graves. (Originally thought for her younger twin brothers) She still attended school and went to church, her grandmother was very religious and Alyssa participated in youth group.
On October 21 2009 Elizabeth Olton went over to Alyssa’s house to play with her younger sister, when it came time to leave Elizabeth started to walk home. She then got a call on her cell phone, it was Alyssa giving her an unknown reason to come back. At 7:00 her parents called the police to report her missing. Family, friends, neighbors and police search in the rain, trying to track her cell phone until it dies. By this time it is too late Alyssa has already strangled her, cut her throat and buried her in one of the graves she ahs dug.
On October 23 2009 police start to question Alyssa, they say that “writings” led them to her. Eventually Alyssa shows them where she has buried the body. (The same woods that they searched and didn’t find a clue, the body was really well sealed) Alyssa would not tell them which grave she was buried in so she told the authorities “If you want her, start digging”.
Alyssa was brought to court and confessed to digging two graves. Cole County Circuit Judge Jon Beetem entered a Not Guilty Plea on Alyssa’s behalf. Prosecutor Cook recommends Alyssa Bustamante be tried as an adult. Now they don’t know what to do with her, the state of Missouri does not have a secure facility with fences that is watched 24 hours a day. Judge Jon Beetem rules "The killing was vicious and that the state has no adequate facilities or services to treat Bustamante if she remains in the juvenile system." "She will be tried as an adult." Alyssa is then indicted on adult charges, first-degree murder, and armed criminal action for use of a knife to kill. Alyssa’s attorney has entered a not-guilty plea to charges of first-degree murder and armed criminal action.
Alyssa then went to juvenile custody where she was put on 24-hour suicide watch and got her nails trimmed after trying to cut herself with her fingernails. While held in custody her lawyers want her to continue her education and want the sheriff to pay for it. Mean while Elizabeth’s parents were morning her death. Everyone dressed in her favorite colour, pink as a horse drawn carriage brought her body to the cemetery and doves were realized.
Alyssa’s attorney is doing everything he can, not that its right or will even be enough. He says that the trial should be moved outside Cole County because the locals there are biased against her. The attorney says there is no way she can get a fair trial in Cole County because they are so prejudiced against her. If she is found guilty for this she could be sentenced to life in prison.
On Friday, Nov. 20, a judge ordered Alyssa to Fulton State Hospital for up to four full days of psychological evaluation because of the suicide attempt.
I wish Dexter existed in order to bring some much needed attention to this matter.
jesus christ. i did not know her, but my girlfriend went to school with her since 3rd grade. if you all had any idea of how much information WAS NOT shared, it would blow your mind. in no way, shape, or form am i saying what she did wasnt completely horrible, im just saying, for those who blame her parents or teachers..just quit.
well from what I have read she got life but with the possibility of parole.
