Carroll, Iowa (The Weekly Vice) – Matthew McNelly, 23, and Joey Miller, 20, were arrested Friday when their disguises failed to fool their potential victim or authorities. Probably because their disguises consisted of Sharpie scribbled masks that graced their rather vacant-looking faces.
Authorities with the Carroll Police Department received a tip that two suspicious men that appeared to be in black face were attempting to break into an apartment. What appeared at first glance to be black face was soon discovered to be permanent marker.
Police say they found the two suspects shortly after receiving the report when they pulled over a car that matched the description of the suspects’ vehicle a couple blocks from the apartment complex. Both of their faces had been haphazardly scribbled in with black marker, resulting in what appeared to be a…Batman…scruffy beard face…raccoon…I’m not sure what the hell they were going for, but clearly, it didn’t work.
Authorities were originally advised that the suspects were wearing holsters and thus the two were arrested at gunpoint. However, the men had neither weapons nor holsters and were arrested without incident.
Both Miller and McNelly were booked in to Carroll County jail on charges of 2nd degree attempted robbery. McNelly was additionally charged with DUI. Both were released on $7,500 bond.

Ok, Here is what I think happened. They were at a party, got drunk and passed out, and some smart ass drew all over their faces. I have done this to people before, and have had it done to me...
Still is pretty funny to see it on their mugshots. You don't see that everyday!
I dunno Juggs...anytime me and my friends have drunken Sharpied someone, we usually write stuff like "JACKASS" or draw penises on their cheeks or something, rather than trying to transform them in to retarded superheros.
But let's take your theory and run with it - do you think they woke up and decided to rob someone WITHOUT knowing they had been Sharpied, and it's just a ridiculously funny coincidence? Or did they see it and say, 'well hell, we might as well burgle someone's home now!'
Either way, they should probably both stop drinking.
the very fact they needed to rob someone told me they were not the sharpest branch in the human gene pool. Seeing the "masks" removes all leftover doubt.

I live in Carroll, IA..and know both of these men VERY well..and they were not going there to ROB anyone..honestly they were going to talk to this guy that they know PERSONALLY and they were drunk and he wouldn't come to the door so they busted it down...
As for the mushrooms and such I wouldn't doubt it..at all..Joey had just gotten released from Jail for marijuana charges..
They were drunken idiots who went about a situation the wrong way, we all do shit when we're drunk ((im sure drugs were involved--but as of this time i dont know))
And both of the men were not released, one was, god this story just gets funnier and funnier every website I read it on..read one in Tuscon, AZ that claimed that the 2 have previoulsy lived there and were responsible for crimes before moving from there to little small town here Carroll IA..
as for the metrodome bitch..hahaha that was funny..she used to be head of HR at my job..oopsy:(
i don't know why i m telling this but they are looking like a funny or comedy models!!!!!!!!!
