Pittston, Maine (The Weekly Vice) - Gary Moody, a 49-year-old Maine resident has been arrested a second time for allegedly hiding inside a campsite pit toilet.
In 2005 a New Hampshire judge urged Moody to get help after he was caught hiding in an outhouse pit toilet on White Mountain National Forest property.
Apparently that advice went ignored, as Moody has now been caught a second time, hiding inside of a pit toilet outhouse.
According to police, a 9-year-old boy caught Moody climbing out through the hole of an outhouse pit toilet at the Hastings Campground in White Mountain National Forest. Two adults also allegedly witnessed Moody exiting the outhouse.
Although Moody was not identified and captured at the campground, he was a suspect in the case because of his prior history of climbing into pit toilets.
Investigators questioned Moody, who admitted to climbing into the toilet, but claimed he did so because he had dropped a shirt into the pit and merely wanted to retrieve it.
After investigators reminded Moody he had given a similar explanation for the 2005 incident, he reportedly admitted to making the shirt story up and went on to say he had climbed into toilet pits on more than two occasions.
Moody was booked into jail on charges of attempted violation of privacy, entering an enclosed area not open to the public and leaving refuse in an exposed or unsanitary condition. Moody's next court appearance has been scheduled for Sept. 16.

Just in case you were thinking this pit toilet MUST have been cleaned recently, consider the charges - leaving refuse in an exposed or unsanitary condition. The alleged incident also occurred over a busy Memorial Day weekend. Yes, that means the man was marinating in crap when he crawled out of that hole and it dropped off him as he fled the scene.
Yep, I think I'll be skipping lunch today.

Danny Vice-excuse my ignorance but i dont get this story.Why was he climbing into a dirty toilet?What was the purpose?
Is he mentally ill,does he hate himself or is there some other reason?
Going off looks he appears pretty "normal"
iWink, no one knows why he does it because he didn't seek counseling like the judge recommended.
The presumption is that he uses the opportunity to peek at a person's privates while they're using the restroom - thus the "invasion of privacy" charge.
Or maybe he has a urination fetish...which some people seem to get off on.

Hmmm wow urination fetish- i never though of that.You'd think if it was to peek at a persons privates with all that faeces covering him it would have blocked the view anyway
If you are interested in a, perhaps, more thoughtful introspective, response...I suspect that his "fetish", if you will, has something to do with a deep seated sense of shame that he carries with him. I believe it to be the same thing that motivates other self punishing, self deprecating behaviors that some of us...perhaps all of us, to one extent or another...perpetrate against ourselves, to a lesser or grater degree. In any case, I am sure that whatever urges he has to do this falls in the category of obsession and is thus uncontrollable by him.
He appears "normal", as it were; yes, I agree, but I believe a normal appearance can belie an inner world that is not entirely normal...don't you think?
Just my take on it....the older I get, the more I realize that what I thought I knew about many topics was not true.
I don't really know just what to say about this...That is just nasty.

It must be horrible to live that way and even more horrible for any victims.
He should have went through with the counselling although i have suspicions that a great majority of psychiatrist etc are useless.
My opinion is they should only get paid if a person is "cured" or generally feels they got alot of help from the counselling

Boy, I couldn't disagree more. I don't think it has anything to do with shame.
A shameful person hurts themselves, they don't go and violate someone else.
What if it was you on that toilet with some guy in a pit below you? Would you be thinking he was shameful or exploiting you by violating something so extremely personal?
Danny is right, it's a fetish. Many people do many strange things to get a sexual high. They hang themselves, beg to be whipped, lay down and beg you to urinate on them. There's a whole world of people out there who do do things like this... but not many willing to go down into a catch pit get a fix.

If that were me on the toilet I would have took the biggest shit possible.
I say it's shame that's operative here because there are 1001 ways to watch someone going to the bathroom, without necessarily bathing in excrement. Just the odor itself would be extremely repugnant to most of us. You are right, he has a fetish. He has the fetish BECAUSE of underlying shame that he is probably unaware of. Shame manifests itself in many ways. People who deny its existence perhaps are in denial of their own or, don't have it and have never experienced it. Either way that doesn't mean it doesn't exist...it's sort of like ultraviolet light...it can't be seen with the naked eye, but its effects can be observed on a cloudy day in the form of an outward manifestation: sunburn.. ...it's the same with shame...it can't be seen by the individual who has lived with it all of his life, but his outward actions are an outward manifestation of an inner problem, namely, shame.
ZachB I was thinking the same thing right when you said it (lol). Seriously though, I refuse to use outhouses in camp grounds because they are so nasty.... Nastier then normal outhouses and port-a-potties if you ask me!!!! I usually would much rather take a shit in the woods then sit my ass on one of these things and someone went and CRAWLED in one? That is freakin' nasty!!!! I hope he gets some horrible disease from this!!!
I know this guys brother, and it's hard to believe but Gary Moody used to own a popular gas station close to where I live! He was forced to sell the store the first time he got caught, they say he was watching the bathroom through peep holes! Weird!
I remeber this guy from the first time he made the news. I think they used a fire hose on him before they would arrest him. Nasty!
I have to fight VERY hard not to puke when using these places just to take a quick piss, so I'd have to agree, he has a fetish for it. Whether it is rooted in shame or not, I don't know.

Imagine how hot it was down there..Then consider how the strong stench probably lingers on his skin...in his hair...in his nostrils and lungs.
And he probably had refuse under his fingernails and inside his shoes and toe nails. This is just nasty on a level that's unimaginable.

Let me tell you what I think that is interesting, after reading your posts..all of them...the very things that all of you mentioned as being extremely repulsive..the filth..the heat..the nastiness..the overpowering smell....most of us wouln't be caught dead even near a place like this..we try to minimize our time in toilets like this. Don't we all?? Well, my point is that not only did HE not try to avoiid this place, he was drawn to it. He actively sought it out. In fact, going one step further, he was apparently obsessed by it. I just think it's interesting...I believe that it indicates some kind of compulsion...some of an uncontrollable desire...an "addiction" if you will. How does his behavior really differ from that exhibited by anyone who has an addiction to, say,..alcohol, drugs...the individual returns to that which is harmful over and over again, in spite of increasingly more severe consequences each time....just an observation...

you probably all know this, but, gary got caught again. the convenience store he once owned was in the town i grew up in. as a teenager a friend of mine stole a single beer from the store without being seen. two days later a cop knocked on his door because gary caught him on video. what are the chances of that?
the only thing i can think of is that he had the bathrooms wired for video as well and was constantly watching. how else would he have noticed my friend stealing a beer from the cooler, which probably took all of ten seconds???
