Stuart, Florida (The Weekly Vice) - Cassandra Lauderdale, a 23-year-old Florida woman was arrested Monday after she stabbed her dog to death while bewildered witnesses stood by.
According to the Martin County Sheriff's Office, deputies were responding to a 911 call when they discovered a dog that had been stabbed multiple times in the neck.
Investigators say deputies arrived at the woman's residence around 10:30 p.m. to find a crowd of people inside - including Lauderdale, who appeared agitated.
Witnesses told deputies that Lauderdale took a dog into the bathroom and repeatedly stabbed it in the bath tub. They told deputies the dog could be heard yelping as Lauderdale delivered blow after blow with the knife.
After Lauderdale informed deputies that she "had a right to kill the dog and it was no one's business," she eventually lead investigators to the back yard where a dead dog was found with multiple deep stab wounds to the neck.
Deputies found blood and blood soaked clothing scattered about the scene of the attack as well as a bloody knife that was left in the bathroom sink. No reason was given as to why the woman attacked her dog.
Lauderdale was booked into the Martin County Jail on a single charge of cruelty to animals. Bail in her case was set at $2,500.

More came out on this story. Apparently she killed the dog because it nipped her the night before.
What's wrong with people? The humane society will take any unwanted dog.
This woman won't serve any serious jail time because it's just a dog..
But if she's willing to stab a dog like THAT, how could anyone be assured she won't hurt people too.
Let's hope she doesn't have kids!

How could someone be that cold blooded? I've wanted to kill a few yappy dogs in my time too but you have to realize its usually the owners fault in poorly training an animal that results in bad behavior.

Wait till she does it to a child. People never take crimes on animals seriously. If a dog bites a person the dog gets euthanized. If some redneck skank kills a dog she pays 2500 dollars. I hope she dies a miserable death one day.
So, if I *humanely* kill my dog, I should be in the clear, right? My black lab is getting old and kind of a pain, so I plan on giving her 100 mg of Benadryl, then slitting her throat while she's sleeping/sedated.

An animal is a LIVING thing, NO different than a human life to me. Lock her up and throw away the key. All dogs go to Heaven...as for her...there's a special place for her too!

I don't know the girl and we've never met and I'm sure we never will... but... From the time she was 4, she's lived in a violent home. Her mom and dad had frequent violent issues that came before the courts. She's seen violence on a near-daily basis for almost twenty years.
Our kids are who we train the be, either deliberately or indirectly.
In Ms. L'dale's case, she was taught "accidentally" by parents too caught up in thier own miserable lives to consider what was happenning to her.
She's probably "damaged goods" by now and is currently "training" kids of here own now.
Hopefully, thet Courts will step in FOR HER KIDS SAKE and see that she gets much needed counselling and anger management since she's never known that "stuff" before.
Yes, in a way I pity her (and her kids) because what else was she trained to do?
For those suggesting she be treated like the dog she killed, "Let those without sin cast the first stone." YOU people are as guilty for uncontrolled anger as SHE is. She's been raised my nitwit parents. What's YOUR excuse?

To the anonymous who was excusing her actions as a bad childhood and that she needs compassion and counselling: I bet you didn't say the same thing about Michael Vick who spent two years in prison did you? You are typical of the people who for some sick reason feel sorry for women who commit crimes, and blame them on others. I hope you don't stand up for equal rights for women, because they don't deserve equal rights until their actions are punished equally under the law.
Wow! The folks talking about killing a woman for killing a dog are as bad as the woman who killed the dog!
Also, M. Vick was killing dogs for financial gain. This knuckelhead killed one dog because the dog was (apparently) becoming violent.
I'm appaled by her actions but people, please, stop placing your pets on the same level as our sons and daughters.
