Baton Rouge, LA (The Weekly Vice) - Mitchell Deslatte, 25, was arrested Sunday morning for allegedly drinking and driving himself to a state trooper station.
Investigators say Deslatte mistook the station for a hotel. After knocking and being buzzed into Troop A, he reportedly asked the trooper on duty if he was in a hotel.
Deslatte was charged with DWI.
The Weekly Vice Opinion:
Should’ve gotten a Garmin. There’s a Staybridge Suites about a mile down the road. If he had the Captain in him, there must have been a mutiny.

I'm just wondering how he can be charged with a DWI when he obviously WALKED up to the door to be allowed inside. Now, I can understand a public intoxication, but not a DWI.
That was my first thought too Anonymous.
Perhaps like most cop shops they had a video camera of him sliding into the parking lot and getting his luggage out of the trunk.
(Dude, if you have to knock... it's probably not a motel)
I remember reading once that drunk drivers are instinctively attracted to flashing lights and such, which is why so many of them hit cops who have someone else pulled over. Maybe he saw the lights on at the trooper barracks and thought "hotel"
On the plus side he did get a room for the night.
Because he drove to the hotel. Er... make that the police station.
All they had to do is see his car or ask him if he drove to the hotel...in question
I wonder if he posted bail or did the 'express checkout'.
