Columbus, Ohio (The Weekly Vice) -- David P. Santuomo, a 43-year-old Columbus firefighter pleaded guilty Wednesday to shooting two dogs so he wouldn't have to pay boarding fees while he and his girlfriend went on vacation.
Franklin County prosecutors say Santuomo took his two dogs to the basement, suspended them from a ceiling pipe and then shot them at least 11 times - all in an effort to avoid costs associated with pet-sitting.
Authorities became aware of the animals' killing in December, 2008 after Santuomo allegedly bragged to coworkers about killing the dogs and then dumping their corpses.
"Fellow firefighters were disgusted by what he did and the Capital Area Humane Society was called to investigate," said county prosecutor Heather Robinson. "The humane society would have taken the animals if Santuomo had asked, and two neighbors had offered to watch the dogs in his absence."
Court documents reveal Santuomo initially lied to investigators, claiming the dogs were suffering because they had consumed anti-freeze. He also reportedly lied to his children and ex-wife about what had happened.
Santuomo, however, changed his story after a necropsy proved that he was lying, Robinson said.
Santuomo pleaded guilty to two counts of animal cruelty and one count of possession of a criminal tool. He was ordered to spend 90 days in jail and pay a $4,500 fine.

And afterwords the prosecutor, judge, all on the jury, and the rest of us went home and ate a big steak that came from a cow that was not murdered in the same fashion, or was it chicken?
MacK, shut the hell up. The dogs were pets to the wife and kids as well, so instead of saying "oh this happens all the time", think of the people this actually hurt. The dogs were killed out of selfishness, not necessity.

Today we found out, not only did he kill his dogs, he lost his Drivers license, he also lost his EMT license he has criminal charges awaiting for him on passing bad checks. But he is still working as a fireman... this is one sick dude. No respect for the law or anyone else. Here is the link.

The human body requires many nutrients abundant in animal meat.
Our incisor teeth are idea for cutting and tearing... while our molars are ideal for crushing things like nuts (which you happen to be).
All in all, this suggests a person should have a balanced combination of both meats and vegetables.
If you want run around in a fig leaf sqwawking about the horrors of swatting flies - then knock yourself out. Just keep that nonsense to yourself.

This Mack person is obviously a troll. Right now he's sitting at home (probably still living with mom and dad), getting his kicks from inflaming people on various websites. You see, he has no power. All his life he's been a trashy loser. Had lofty dreams but little ability in school, ended up in a dead end job where he has absolutely no frigging power or authority, and is generally laughed at in his attempts with women. So just ignore his comments. It's what he lives for...poor thing.
As for Santuomo, what disturbs me the most is that he is still allowed to work. Surely his behavior violates the implied ethical code that people in this career adhere to. A teacher or a nurse gets accused of child abuse, and if found guilty, will lose their license. So how in the world is this any different since firemen are one step behind veternarians in the care and welfare of community animals? Kitten in a tree, pups in a drainage ditch, all rescued by firemen. And that's the image that the public should have...not of some sadistic twit hanging, shooting, and bragging about the slaughter of his pets.
First - fire him from the Fire Department and make sure he never works in any public service capacity again. Then, please put this piece of trash in jail for a very long time.
Actually, when he gets out of jail, put him on the construction crew with Michael Vick, another piece of human garbage.
I don't care if he was a fireman, doctor, stockbroker, clerk, teacher - he belongs in jail and away from people.

First, the vegetarian argument is not that humans are not capable of eating meat or physiologically unable to eat meat. IT IS THAT WE DO NOT NEED TO EAT MEAT! Therefore, we have no reason to continue to eat it when it causes so much suffering.
As for vegetarians being stupid, without power and intellectually inferior, you should realize that an abnormal percentage of PhD's and other highly educated people are vegetarians. In fact, as a future PhD, vegetarians does not seem to really be an issue at all among my peers and superiors. However, travel to some backwater 8th grade educated death panel believing town and vegetarianism is treated as some kind of abnormality or sickness. So it seems that the dumber you are, the more you hate vegetarians...huh, imagine that....
