Port St. Lucie, Florida (The Weekly Vice) -- Theresa Platt, a 34-year-old Florida woman was arrested last week on child neglect charges authorities found her children unfed for days, riddled with ant bites.
Platt, who reportedly freeloads from house to house with her three young children was taken into custody after one of her hosts became concerned with the abuse she allegedly dished out to her children.
According to St. Lucie County deputies, a man who took pity on the family recently put them up in a converted garage inside his home. Pity turned to concern when he reportedly saw Platt becoming abusive to her children - two 3-year-old twins and her 6-year-old son.
The man told deputies Platt didn't feed the children for three days, despite receiving food stamps. When the man's friend offered to take Platt's children to school, Platt reportedly told her "I don't want them. You can have them. I don't want to take care of them," according to the arrest report.
When deputies arrived, they found the children mal-nourished and covered with ant bites. Platt told deputies she was unable to support the children because their father was in prison.
As for the food stamps - Platt reportedly sold them. There was no explanation as to where the money was spent.
Platt was booked into the St. Lucie County Jail on three counts of child neglect. The children were taken into protective custody.

As sad as this story is, the woman seems to have gotten her wish. She's been released from jail now.... lost somewhere in Florida..... and her children? Those are now the taxpayer's problem.
I'll bet a week's pay Platt will end up pregnant again inside of two years and the whole cycle will start again. Any takers?

I've seen this story on other sites, and some of the posters there are trying to blame the good samaritan in this situation. Saying that because he gave her a place to stay for a few nights it's his fault for the children's malnutrition and injuries. I feel however, that the blame lays squarely on the shoulder's of the so call 'mother.' She is not a mother, she is the egg donor and incubator. A mother cares for her children, does everything she can to feed and protect them, to make sure they always know that they are loved, and wanted. Obviously she didn't do any of these things. I hope she gets a severe sentence, but seening that this happened in Florida I doubt it!! But in the very least these children should be place in a home where they will be loved, fed, clothed, and well taken care of. Really is it too much to ask for a parent to actually take care of their child?!?! My prayers are with you little ones!!

@ CAmom - which is precisely why I made sure to include the fact that she was receiving food stamps.
If the family left during the day sometime - how would the man know they weren't going to eat someplace. I'd say figuring this all out in three days time is pretty observant of him and his female friend.
To figure this all out while trying to get the family as much privacy as possible...... I think was as well balanced as you can get.
I think they tried to take the kids to school in an effort to see if they could get the kids talking about whether or not they had gone out and eaten anything.
I think they did everything in their power to be protective without assuming more than they should.
Great work to the good samaritans involved.

Thank you crusty, but in my area of the country, pawned-off is derived from the act of getting rid of something i.e. "Take down to the pawn-shop and sell, get rid of, trade for financial gain, etc"
But as a guy who knows a little magic - I'm impressed with your knowledge of palm-off. My sleight of hand isn't that great though, so I use a Raven gimmack for that one. =)

Yeah, she doesn't want them, but shes got no problem getting help from the government to provide for them. Useless bitch! and I agree Danny, now that these kids were taken, shes got to get pregnant again so she can keep spending tax payer money. people like this should be tied to a lamppole and let the taxpayers take free shots at her.
Lilmiss, actually I meant she'd likely stumble into another pregnancy - but you actually bring up an even better point. With the kiddos gone, she'll lose some of her public assistance - not to mention the bait she used to make people take pity on her.
Also with the kids gone, she'll be able to focus on latching onto a guy who's willing to take an interest in her. Little does he know, she has plans for him.... and he'll be dumb enough (or desperate enough) to take the bait.
She's quite the walking soap opera, ain't she?
The saddest part of this story is there is a 4th daughter who is in custdy with a relative who was molested by one of the mothers boyfriends and is now being dragged through the court system for the second time.These sickos have to get stickter jail time like life.
The welfare system is unfortunately comprised of "gutter trash" like this,depleting every needed resource that should be going to families that really need it..not to some nasty piece of trash that can not keep her legs closed....and BTW>>What a Great Site....Actually better then the news....and more informitive..keep up the good work..
