Susan Boyle Stuns Crowd with Epic Singing - Watch more Funny Videos
Britain's Got Talent (The Weekly Vice) - Talking with co-workers today, I was surprised to find myself in a minority. The minority of people around work who had been blessed enough to see the video above - featuring amateur singer, Susan Boyle.
Susan walked out on stage last Saturday night to audition for 'Britain's Got Talent' - Great Britain's version of American Idol.
Before she sang, you could hear the jeering catcalls from the balcony and scrunched faces of those who expected immediate failure from the quirky, older woman who stood before them. When Susan was done singing, the audience was .....was...... Gobsmacked, as the British like to say.
Normally, The Weekly Vice does not stray over into entertainment blogging. TWV has etched out an identity spotlighting the crazy and outrageous behavior of those who tear down society instead of lifting it up.
But in lieu of the fact that some readers have not had a chance yet to see this story unfold for themselves, we will share this gift - and we call it a gift, because she is a gift. Not just in her singing, but in the lesson her story bestows on us all.
Come Monday, we'll get back to all that is wrong with the world. But for this weekend, we thought we'd let Susan share with you what is still right in this world. A light in the darkness.
The ability to Dream a Dream - and the quirky zeal to make it come true.
Will you watch the video more than once? It's likely - but her Cry Me A River recording is worth a serious listen as well, particularly if you like Jazz.

I saw this yesterday and you're right, once isn't enough. I have to confess to crying a little. What a beautiful voice.
What I didn't know about was the Cry Me A River song. WOW. Thank you for sharing. I love jazz.
Proof you cannot judge a book by it's cover
Well said. I like the BGT show a lot better than American Idol. It's far more diverse and they have some great talent.
Saw this on the news, but not the video. I needed this. Thank you for posting it.
I saw this last night, I must say that Ms. Boyle has one of the most beatiful voices I had EVER HEARD.. Thanyou Mr. Vice for bring her to the masses, who may not have heard the beauty of these womans voice otherwise.
A greatfull follower in CA
The brits say gobsmacked, not god smacked. Gob is british slang for mouth and so as a smack in the mouth in liable to make you speechless the saying gobsmacked is one made to imply you've seen or heard something that's left you lost for words.
Anon. Actually both definitions are correct. Godsmacked means bad karma that comes right back to you - after you do something wrong... And I'd say that is quite fitting here.
Either way, I've watched this 5 times now in a row...geez. what a momemt.
And yes, go listen to the "cry me a river" song.
She will most certainly be putting out albums, and I'll be buying one.
23 million hits on You Tube so far. Does anyone know what the record is - or was?
Not to be coy, but I'm beginning to have the opinion that American Idol is the U.S. version of BGT. Not the other way around.
I watched a few other youtube clips of the show. It was far more entertaining, diverse, and enjoyable to watch.
The US version is far too restrictive and guess what. Susan wouldn't have been able to sing in the US version, because they have an age requirement. No one over 30.
Girl @ 1.24 & 1.33 - sucks to be you right about now.
a serendipitous find if there ever was one...she is a throwback to a time when singers actually sang without technological dodads or a mass market blitz....
(sigh)
Over 100 million YouTube hits so far. Wow - good for her.
wow that was pretty amazing, more opera than jazz tho.i was a lil shocked but i wouldnt ever judge anyone who has more balls than i do to go on stage and rock there shit. i cant believe how happy simon was as well, i think he found his soul mate...hahah but no really. i swear i saw a tear from him.
