El Cajon, California (The Weekly Vice) -- Mauricio Lopez, a 34-year-old Lemon Grove man charged with beating his infant son for months, pleaded guilty to felony child abuse Thursday.
Lopez was arrested in November when the 5 month old baby's mother took him to Rady Children's Hospital for an evaluation. Doctors discovered that the baby had suffered more than 30 bone fractures - including EVERY BONE in his legs, according to district attorney Chantal de Mauregne.
Lopez and the child's mother indicated that Lopez "may have caused specific bones to be broken," said Mauregne.
Investigators believe the abuse occurred over a period of several months. The boy was 5 1/2 months when his injuries came to light. He was taken into protective custody and placed in a foster home.
After pleading guilty to felony child abuse, Lopez was sentenced to seven years in prison.

Seven years? For breaking bone after bone after bone in an infant's body? Keeping in mind that a baby's bones are very pliable and difficult to break, I can't even imagine the torture this child went through - while his mother stood by. Why she hasn't been charged for neglect requires some serious explanation from the prosecutor's office.

How can anyone do this to a child? I look at my daughter everyday and thank God she is alive because she was born a preemie and here these bastards are abusing sweet innocent babies. It's not right. There are plenty of loving people out there willing to take in a child. Pick a doorstep for Christ's sake! It's better then beating him half to death!

HE should get at LEAST 20 years..if he can do this to a baby, he has no moral compass to base life on and I am sure he will hurt someone else again.. bet on it.!
The MOTHER should be charged too. Maybe she was afraid of him, I'm sure he hit her too but....this is no excuse!! I would fight a lion for my kids
I have several fitting punishments for this POS. Many of them involve implements of pain such as a baseball bat, some barbed wire and fire ants.
