Acea Schomaker's Groovy MySpace ProfileOmaha, Nebraska (The Weekly Vice) -- Acea 'Ace' Schomaker, a 20-year-old Nebraska man was arrested on animal cruelty charges Sunday after he allegedly stuffed a cat into a homemade bong and proceeded to smoke it.
According to the Lancaster County Sheriff's Office, deputies were initially dispatched to the home Schomaker shares with his grandfather on a domestic disturbance call.
Deputies resolved the dispute and left the residence, but returned after discovering there was an arrest warrant for the suspect on a previous drug paraphernalia charge.
When deputies re-entered the home, they found Schomaker smoking marijuana through a garden hose that had been affixed to a 12" x 6" plexi-glass box held together with duct tape. Inside the box was a 6-month-old female cat named Shadow.
"This cat was just dazed," said Sgt. Andy Stebbing of the Lancaster County Sheriff's Office. "She was on the front seat of the cop car, wrapped in a blanket, and never moved all the way to the humane society."
Schomaker told deputies that he placed the cat into the bong, because she had been acting hyper and he was trying to calm her down.
The cat was described as timid, but in good overall condition, according Bob Downy of the Capital Humane Society.
"What the human mind doesn't invent, huh?" said Downy.
Schomaker was booked into the Lancaster County Jail on suspicion of animal cruelty, possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia. He was released after satisfying a $400 fine on the outstanding arrest warrant.

Meow, how do you know he didn't hurt the cat? Cats don't likely understand what being "high" is and might turn mean or be afraid of people after an incident like that.
I don't think she probably was hurt necessarily, but she could have been affected in other ways.
I remember those days. homemade bongs, lots of time on my hands, the right to be stupid if I wanted to be. Sleeping until noon.
I'd like to go back and visit those days for a week.
