Longwood, Florida (The Weekly Vice) -- A toddler is found in a woman's front yard after mother leaves him car. Car thief steals car, boots child out on the side of the road. Multiple arrests follow.
A Florida mother, her drug using friend and pathetic car thief all share one thing in common. They all put a 1 year old child in grave danger, with unbridled stupidity.
It all began Sunday morning when Julinia Moreno left her 1 year old child, Jamir, in the backseat of her vehicle and then loaned that vehicle to Joshua Barnes.
Investigators say Barnes then drove the vehicle (with the toddler still in the back seat) to a drug house, leaving the motor running.
Police say that's when our third idiot entered the scene. 36-year-old David Carver allegedly saw the unattended vehicle and stole it. Shortly after the getaway, Carver reportedly noticed the child in the back seat. He then stopped, dumped the child off in a random front yard, and proceeded with his getaway.
Investigators say Carver bought drugs with the stolen car, which was recovered later that morning in a Wal-Mart parking lot. Two men who were seen exiting the vehicle were arrested.
The child was found by a woman who's front yard he was left in. She took the child in, warmed him up and called authorities. He was checked out at South Seminole Hospital and then released into the custody of child services.
Police have now made five arrests in the incident. Julinia Moreno, Joshua Barnes, David Carver and the two men who bought the stolen vehicle.
Moreno was charged with felony child neglect. She was released on a promise to appear back in court on Feb 17.
Barnes was arrested on a charge of felony child neglect. Although bond was set at $5,000, he is reportedly being detained because of a prior conviction.
Carver was arrested on charges of grand-theft auto and felony child neglect. According to court records, he has multiple prior convictions for grand theft resulting in a four year prison term. Bond was set at $5,000, however he has not been released because of prior convictions.
