Gainesville, Florida (The Weekly Vice) -- A Gainesville, Florida couple was arrested Thursday night after they allegedly abandoned their two sons in a dirty house to go out partying all night on New Year's Eve.
Craig Alan Kovens, 39, and Lori Beth Kovens, 42, were arrested on two counts each of child neglect, according to the arrest affidavit.
Investigators say the couple's 10-year-old son awoke Thursday morning to find his parents missing. Police say the boys were left without instructions, provisions or information about where the couple might be. The boys went to a nearby neighbor's home where police were called.
The couple allegedly left the house after the children had gone to sleep on New Year's Eve to go and party with friends. The couple did not return home again until about 9:30 p.m. Thursday night, according to the arrest report.
Detectives who interviewed the couple say Craig Kovens allegedly admitted that the couple had partied through the night and then spent the next day doing cocaine and drinking.
Police also noted that the house was "in disarray and dirty" and that a cylinder device was laying out that contained traces of cocaine.
The couple was booked into the Alachua County Jail in lieu of a $10,000 bond each.

Can you imagine rolling over in the morning and catching a good dose of that woman's bad breath? I'd be a crack addict too if I had to relive that horror day in, day out.

I ran a program in Miami called Village South we dealt with approx. 150 addicts at a time. I my self had a problem with substances along with alcohol. I have watched this family struggle with a girl who by the way is very intelligent and two twin boys 10yrs old. They have created a situation where they are totally torn apart. While in jail of course they lost their house. I must tell you after my employment at Village my wife and I created a ministry called "LOST AND FOUND" where anyone could come with or without major problems. I saw many healings. I personally know this family and they are READY TO RECOVER. They are getting meetings, counseling,probation,dropping urines,but can't get the family back together. We are in a position as God fearing people to stop cutting them apart. and help them with a reconcilation. They only need someone to trust them to pay rent. Lori is a pro. accountant and Craig an electrical helper and handyman. Let's get together and do what we must to get the satisfaction of watching them change. God is a God of second chances and believe me this family hit bottom. We are doing what we can to help, we need more, please pray for a conviction anything of mabye furn. to trusting the first week of rent with the house. These are good people or I would not put my neck on a limb. I pray please get in touch even if we pray together God answers prayers. This is Pauli again writing about the child neglet case with Lori and Craig Kovens case. The parents were incarcerated until May now they have programs all-day long depending on work schedule. Program reporting,PTA school involvement urines,counseling. One of the boy's recently tried suicide because of missing the family. We just know that there is somebody that can help this faily who has hit bottom and desperately seeking any kind of group help they can get. This family needs to be together. The more time that passes the more trouble bonding will become. I and my wife are both on disability with M.S. for
Alice and amputee for Paul. Please community of Gainesville or surrounding areas there are people who can help, Won't you step up and give this family a chance. Right now they are caught in a dilemma since all income has to go to their survival. Only one has employment now and the husband needs a job.
