Chula Vista, California (The Weekly Vice) -- Carmina Lopez, a 32-year-old fifth-grade teacher at Sunnyslope Elementary School in Palm City California was arrested Wednesday on charges of having a 4-year long sexual relationship with 11-year-old boy.
According to police, Lopez now faces 83 counts of child sex assault stemming from an alleged ongoing sexual relationship with a her former student and godson.
Investigators believe Lopez began having sex with the boy when he was in her sixth-grade class at Nestor Elementary School in San Diego. The relationship allegedly continued up until June of last year.
The alleged sexual abuse occurred at Lopez' homes in Chula Vista and San Diego as well as her vehicle and at a school.
Authorities first became aware of the alleged abuse when information about the sexual activity came out during a counseling session. The boy has reportedly been suffering from psychological issues and has been seeing a counselor.
Lopez was taken into custody Wednesday night at her home in San Diego. She was questioned until early Thursday and then booked into the Las Colinas Jail on 83 charges including continuous sexual abuse of a child, aggravated sexual assault of a child, sexual battery of a child, sexual intercourse with a minor, lewd and lascivious acts with a child under 14, child cruelty and failing to report child abuse.
She is currently being held without bail.

It must be noted that there is a very long list of co-workers, neighbors and acquaintences of this teacher who are stead-fast in their defense of this teacher's character.
Considering the absolute seriousness of a case like this, we dearly hope that prosecutors are extremely thorough and careful on this one. 83 counts is a tremendous case to bring. I hope investigators do their due dillegence in shoring up enough evidence to back every single charge up.
Something about this case doesn't feel quite right.

I agree, I hope they are very thorough because that is an awful lot of charges. But, just because she looks like a nice person and just because she's attractive doesn't mean she can't be a pervert. Something happened to that little boy.
well, if shes guilty I say the judge needs to throw the book at her because 11 years old is just crazy!!! HOWEVER, if she is innocent, and this is all some sort of scheme, than the boy and his parents should be charged... either way, someone here is very, very, very screwed up in the head..

I agree with you Danny, I hope they spend plenty of time making sure every charge has proof instead of just taking his word for it.
If she did it, then she should spend decades in jail. But if she didn't do it, decades in jail would be a travesty
this is bad.....there are going to be questions on who is the father of her child and ......now her bail is two million.

I remember that era - even had a psychologist who tried to convince me I had been 'ritually abused'. Not all counselors are sane. And not all kids are immune to influence. 83 charges seems like a red flag, in and of itself.

i think she did it because if she didn't the the police would not have any thing on her and they picked her up so that means they have something on her and people nee to think that she could of done this to anyone kids and i think they need to ask her son to see if she did anything to them

I know the kid and he is sick! Any really, smoking and sleeping in her room- I dont think so!!! I know many facts that are actually going to come out at the hearing- everyone will be very surprised at what a sick kid he is, Carmina is innocent!!
I know this teacher very well and know she would never do anything like this! Of course since we are talking about a child it's easy to want to jump to their defense and protect their innocence! BUT this kid is not an innocent child...you'd have to know him and how screwed up he is. If there is a pervert in this case it's that boy! Believe me, I've been around him enough to know how messed up that kid is, horrible family life. I hope he gets some more professional help!

I know this woman is innocent and I know her family is going through a rough time. Her son is roughly the same age as mine and my heart goes out to him. I pray that the truth prevails, but even if it does the damage has been done and is still being done! For all those who don't know her and are leaning towards her guilt, I hope you guys try to place yourself in her shoes. Not all children are innocent..and if you check out that troubled child's myspace you would know that he is in a gang!...if he didn't change his myspace already. Man, this sucks and I hate this injustice!!! Makes me sick to my stomache!!!
