Greenfield, California (The Weekly Vice) -- Marcelino de Jesus Martinez, a 36-year-old Greenfield man was arrested Monday on a charge of attempting to sell his 14-year-old daughter into marriage in exchange for cash, beer and meat.
According to police, Martinez allegedly arranged to sell his underage daughter to an 18-year-old Margarito de Jesus Galindo for a price.
$16,000 in cash, 100 cases of Corona, 50 cases of Modelo, two cases of wine, 50 cases of Gatorade, 50 cases of soft drinks and several cases of meat seemed a fair price to the pair - and the deal was allegedly struck.
Investigators say the teen moved in with Galindo, but when payments were not received, the girl's father called police to have his daughter returned.
Authorities arrested Galindo on Sunday, who was booked into the Monterey County Jail on suspicion of statutory rape. Martinez was also arrested on suspicion of human trafficking.
The case will now go to the Monterey County District Attorney's office, where a final decision of the charges will be made.
Martinez and Galindo also face the possibility of being deported as illegal immigrants, according to Greenfield Police Chief Joe Grebmeier.

While researching this story, I had a tough time finding a story that was willing to report the facts in the case, instead of offering a lesson on how normal this behavior is in Mexico .
Well let's get one thing clear, media. This isn't Mexico. We don't live in a third world country - where the public restroom happens to be the village stream. We have the silly notion in the U.S. that 14-year-old kids should probably be in school instead of some adult's bed for cases of Corona.
Debates about immigration are fine....and we'll stay out of them on this blog. But when it comes to kids, reverting back to Neanderthal practices just doesn't wash with us. Sorry media, you fail!

I'll bet some liberal lawyer gets him off saying we are violating his civil rights, even though he shouldn't have rights here because he isn't a citizen.
Apparently you have never been to Greenfield, Ca...It is little Mexico. Sadly, not a bit of this story surprises me. Very few, if any residents there speak english, most business signs and such are in spanish. The residents have no issues with peeing in the streets or collecting garbage in front of their homes. I had to spend 4 weeks there rebuilding gas stations for my company, never wanna see that place again!

We are a Melting Pot!! We are ALL Illegal!! So get your panties/undies out of a wad for the people who hate on the ones coming over from other countries to live. I am NOT saying that what this fool did was right. IT IS WRONG, but not ALL people from Mexico or any other Country are bad people!!
