Tampa, Florida (The Weekly Vice) -- Arnold Stevens Adams, a 49-year-old ex-convict who was recently released from jail over child sex charges, attacks again. This time, however, the victim fought back!

Arnold Adams, of 3111 Orient Road Unit A, was arrested last week after he allegedly kidnapped and then raped a relative.

According to the Hillsborough County Sheriff's department, the attack began when a female relative reportedly called Adams, asking for a ride. At about 10:30 p.m., Adams picked up the woman in a green minivan and drove her to a pasture along the northeast outskirts of Tampa.

Investigators say when Adams began touching the female against her will, she tried to escape his vehicle and flee, however he pulled her back inside to continue the attack. When she finally broke free and fled the vehicle, Adams allegedly gave chase and tacked her from behind.

The victim continued to fight her attacker through the course of the battery by striking and scratching him - leaving notable abrasions and lacerations on his face. Despite her efforts, however, Adams managed to remove the victim's cloths and batter her.

After the attack, the woman told Adams to take her home. When he refused to stop at her house, she exited the moving vehicle by jumping out the passenger side.

Deputies later spotted Adam's green minivan and took him into custody.

Adams was booked into the Hillsborough County Jail on charges of sexual battery, felony battery, incest, culpable negligence injury, battery and violation of probation. Bail has been denied.

The probation Adams allegedly violated stems from his 1994 conviction of indecent assault on a child under the age of 16. He was sentenced to 15 years in jail for that crime. He was then paroled in August.

The Weekly Vice Opinion:

Just one more repeat sex offender case that continues to prove that you don't reform child sex offenders. You don't cure them. You don't let them out early. You put them in jail and keep them in jail.

At least this time, the woman was able to take a little justice out of the man's face before he heads back to prison - where he belongs. Hopefully he will be a very old, broken down man next time he's released, since Florida seems to be a put them back on the street as fast as they are arrested.

If an individual has the mental capacity to rape a relative while their face is literally being scratched off, what possible chance of rehabilitation could they possibly have? That goes beyond brazen. He's obviously wired from the inside out to offend and offend again. He needs to be put out to pasture, permanently.
