Scott Murray - North Carolina Pastor Accused Of Breaking Into Home; Stealing Sex Toy And Personal Lubricant

Canton, North Carolina (The Weekly Vice) -- Scott Gillis Murray, a 48 year old pastor at New Covenant Church in Clyde, North Carolina has been arrested on accusations that he broke into a woman's home and then stole a sex toy and a bottle of personal lubricant from her.

Haywood County authorities say Murray broke into the woman's home on Friday night, rummaged through her drawers and stole the woman's personal belongings. By Saturday, the pastor had turned himself in and had resigned his position at the church.

Police say Murray now faces felony burglary, larceny and possession of stolen property charges.

New Covenant Church senior pastor stated that he and his entire staff were shocked by the allegations. He stated that he was deeply grieving for the victim and praying for her, her family and Scott Murray.

Murray reportedly broke his leg while fleeing from the woman's house. He is scheduled to answer the charges in Waynesville District Court on August 13.

The Weekly Vice Opinion:

Just one element of this story that remains a bit murky at this point. It would appear that the device stolen would have to be a bit more elaborate than just an ordinary vibrator. All three charges were felonies, which hints that the item stolen would have been worth greater than $500.

But even at that high of a cost, I'm not sure I'd want the thing back.... would you?

Donroy Merrival - Iowa City Man Bites Off Friend’s Nose During Alchohol Fueled Argument. Nose Now Missing

Iowa City, Iowa (The Weekly Vice) -- Donroy R. Merrival, a 40 year old Iowa man has been arrested and charged with willful injury causing serious injury on Tuesday after biting off man's nose. Nose is now missing.

According to police, Merrival got into an argument with friend Matthew Osing after the two had been drinking July 24th.

According to the Mr. Osing, Donroy Merrival was beginning to scare him and asked him to leave his home.

"He was crouched down ready to pounce me and he was scaring me," said Osing. "I said if you don't get out of my house, I'm going to whack you with this army shovel.

Allegedly, Osing followed through with his threat and hit Merrival over the head with the shovel. That's when police say Merrival grabbed the victim and bit the man's nose off.

"He jumped up and grabbed me by my face and grabbed my nose and bit it off," said Osing.

Osing admits to hitting Merrival with the shovel, but claims he did so in self defense. Police say hitting a man with a shovel is not justified however and said that more charges could be forthcoming.

Both men were taken to an area hospital for treatment, however the nose was never recovered. Police believe the man will be permanently disfigured from the incident.

"I don't know if he swallowed it or if my dogs might have eaten it, I don't know."

While this would normally be the end of the story, it isn't.

Merrival came to the attention of authorities again just two days later.

According to police, a woman reported that Merrival attempted to pressure her into having sex. When the woman refused, Merrival allegedly threatened to kill her. The woman told police that Merrival ran away when she pulled out a knife.

Merrival was arrested, arraigned and then booked into Johnson County Jail Thursday morning. He was ordered held on a $30,000 cash-only bond.

Witnesses: Crazed Attacker Repeatedly Stabbed And Then Decapitated Sleeping Passenger On Greyhound Bus Of Horror

Portage La Prairie, Manitoba Canada (The Weekly Vice) -- An unidentified man aboard a Greyhound bus has been arrested for murder after repeatedly stabbing and then decapitating a fellow passenger's head.

Wednesday night, passengers aboard a Greyhound bus heading from Edmonton, Alberta to Winnipeg, witnessed a horrific murder. Out of the blue, a man aboard the bus began repeatedly stabbing a passenger that was sleeping next to him. Witnesses say the man then cut off the man's head with a large kitchen knife and then began waving the severed head around.

"He didn't do anything to provoke the guy," said passenger Garnet Caton. "The guy just took a knife out and stabbed him, started stabbing him like crazy and cut his head off."

The bus was soon brought to a stop, sending screaming passengers out onto the Trans - Canadian highway. Reportedly, the bus driver and a fellow truck driver shut the man inside the bus with the victim until police could arrive.

Passenger witnesses say they stood outside the bus watching through the windows as the man continued to disfigure the victim's body.

Witnesses say at one point the murdering man indicated that he was going to exit the bus, but passengers ordered him to stay inside, threatening him with meg-shift weapons like metal bars and a hammer. The murderer then attempted to drive the bus, however he was unable to get the bus started.

Witnesses still reeling from the events of Wednesday's brutal attack described the horror of the event.

"When we saw the head, we knew he was dead," said a passenger. "I don't think the guy knew him at all. I think he was really crazy...the poor guy, he didn't see it coming."

"There was no rage or anything. He was like a robot, stabbing the guy."

"He just calmly stared at us and dropped the head in front of us. It was like he was at the beach."

"He dropped the head and went back and started cutting the body back up," said passenger Cody Olmstead.

At this point, Canadian officials have not released the name of the attacker or the name of the victim. A Canadian Public Safety Minister called the attack "bizarre", but did not discuss the details, saying he did not want to jeopardize the investigation.

Alfredo Guadalupe Ortiz - Two Time Convicted Felon On The Loose After Court Clerical Error Sets Him Free

Redwood City, California (The Weekly Vice) -- Alfredo Guadalupe Ortiz, a 28 year old 2-time convicted felon recently convicted for battering his girlfriend is now on the loose after a clerical error set him free.

Ortiz was convicted in a San Mateo County Superior Court on Friday for battering his girlfriend and another man in San Mateo back in July, 2007. Prior to his convicted, he had enjoyed freedom while out on a $25,000 bail during the trial.

When he was found guilty at Friday's trial, court deputies took him into custody and transported Ortiz to the Maguire Correctional Facility in Redwood City California. He was ordered to appear back in court for sentencing on Monday. County deputies were ordered to bring the jailed man back to court for sentencing, however there was one tiny little problem. The County Jail didn't have Ortiz.

It turns out that when Ortiz was convicted, court clerks somehow forgot to update Ortiz' $25,000 bail to "No Bail" on Ortiz' case file. This allowed his family to come and post bail for Ortiz again and Ortiz again walked out of jail as a free man.

Monday's hearing came and went, and to no one's big surprise, Ortiz didn't show up. He was facing nine years in prison after all. The problem is, that the issue apparently never came to light until Ortiz was found absent at his sentencing hearing.

Ortiz, who was previously convicted for assault with a gun and now has been convicted for beating down two people is running loose and San Mateo County officials can't find him.

Authorities in the case say Ortiz' family and friends have been "unhelpful". Big surprise, huh?

If caught, Ortiz will face new felony charges for failing to appear in court on Monday, however thus far, there has very little media coverage of Ortiz' case - outside of San Mateo County.

The victims who Ortiz beat down have been notified of his release. (we should hope so).

As a side note, San Mateo County officials have acknowledged their blunder and realize the seriousness of the problem.

"We're trying to determine what happened so we can make sure it doesn't happen again," said Lt. Ray Lunny.

So readers, it may be up to you and me at this point to keep an eye out for Ortiz. San Mateo County Sheriff's Office believes he's still in the area, but in all honestly - would you hang around San Mateo County if you were facing 9 year in jail and had just skipped a felony charge sentencing hearing? I think it's safe to say, we better broaden that search just a little bit.

Peiter Vanvliet - Florida Man Repeatedly Begged Police To Come Arrested Him. So They Did

Plant City, Florida (The Weekly Vice) -- Some people hang their head in shame as they are carted off to jail. Others, however, demand their right to imprisonment and won't take no for an answer.

Peiter Vanliet, a 47 year old Plant City, Florida man called 911, insisting that they arrest him and take him to jail. The problem was, Vanvliet had not committed a crime and there were no outstanding warrants. Authorities shrugged his request off as just another idiot Floridian (as there are many).

Refusing to be deprived, Hillsborough County authorities say Vanvliet began repeatedly calling 911 from a pay phone on Monday, informing deputies there was a warrant for his arrest and that he was awaiting their arrival.

Hillsborough County Deputies double checked - Nope, still no warrant for this idiot's arrest.

Finally, after continued calls, Hillsborough County deputies could finally grant Vanvliet's wish. The DID arrest the jackass, because they finally had a reason to.

Vanvliet has been charged with misuse of the 911 system.

Anthony Hopkins - Arrested On Charges Of Murder, Rape, Sodomy And Incest After Police Find Wife’s Body Frozen In A Freezer

Mobile, Alabama (The Weekly Vice) -- Anthony Hopkins, a 37 year old pastor and self proclaimed evangelist has been arrested and charged with murder, rape, sodomy and incest after police discovered his house of horrors.

While Hopkins preached about forgiveness on Monday - as a visiting evangelist during a revival service at Inspirational Tabernacle Church, police were in the process of making a gruesome discovery in his home.

On Monday, Hopkin's oldest daughter presented to them the shocking horror of the life she had been living. One filled with years of rape, sodomy and incest she had allegedly endured at the hands of her father - the evangelist everyone revered as a prophet. But police had another surprise waiting - because the second horror was about to unfold.

Investigators were then lead to the girl's home where she and her other 7 siblings lived. Once inside, investigators found what would sicken the stomach of even the most seasoned detective. The frozen body of a woman, wrapped in a sheet and stuffed into a deep freezer in the home's utility room.

While forensic tests are not yet complete, police believe that frozen body is Hopkin's wife Arletha Hopkins, who has not been seen or heard from for three years.

According to police, this church-going mother of eight children was never reported missing. Witnesses say Hopkins told them his wife had died years ago during child birth, however there were no such records of her death.

Other witnesses asked Hopkins point blank if something had happened to his wife - only to be rebuffed. Even so, many suspected something was wrong since Arletha seemed to disappear suddenly and never accompanied her children to church as she normally did before.

Authorities say the family issues didn't surface earlier because the children were home schooled, minimizing the opportunity for the children to talk. Hopkins also allegedly kept them moving from place to place.

Little has been revealed about the alleged sexual abuse thus far except that police believe the teen endured many years of rape and sodomy and are investigating possible incest with at least one other sibling as well. Hopkins fathered 6 of the 8 children he shared with Arletha.

Upon the allegations of sexual abuse and the discovery of the frozen dead body found in Hopkin's home, investigators decided an arrest could wait no longer.

Hopkins was delivering a message about forgiveness when the Clarke County Sheriff's department arrived at the church to arrest him. At about 10:00 p.m. police executed an arrest, stunning the congregation.

In the meanwhile, police have been sifting through Hopkin's home, trying to make sense of the madness that seemingly flourished inside Hopkin's home.

One thing is for certain. For the children, there can be no turning back the clock on what they have endured. Mourning their mother's death in silence while allegedly enduring regular sessions of rape at the hands of a pastor, everyone regarded as a prophet.

For the children, hell was not just a punishment for the afterlife. It was a daily reality.

Amy And Justin Northcutt – Married Teachers Arrested On Accusations They Arranged Group Sex With A 16 Year Old Student

Turlock, California (The Weekly Vice) -- Amy Northcutt, 26 a former history teacher at Turlock Christian School in Turlock, California and her husband Justin Northcutt, 27, have been arrested on suspicion of distribution or exhibition of lewd material to a minor. They also face charges of annoying or molesting a child under 18.

According to Sheriff's Department spokesperson Royjindar Singh, the couple sent sexually explicit cell phone messages and photographs to a 16 year old female student, prompting her to participate in group sex with the couple.

Amy Northcutt, who has since resigned her position, was the 16-year-old student's teacher. Justin Northcutt, who is married to Amy, was a substitute teacher at Turlock Christian School's Junior High.

Police first became aware of the alleged activity when the teens mother saw Justin Northcutt talking to her daughter at a family function and questioned the teen about the conversation. She contacted authorities who then also interviewed the alleged victim. Police arrested the couple a short time later in early June.

Justin Northcutt was booked into jail and later released on a $25,000 bond. Amy Northcutt was released on a $10,000 bond. They will both be formally arraigned on specific charges on September 3rd.

Shari Clark - Teacher Suspended Pending Termination After Allegedly Kissing, Hugging And Touching Female Students Innappropriately

Columbiana, Ohio (The Weekly Vice) -- Shari Clark, a 38 year old English teacher at Crestview High School in Columbiana, Ohio has been suspended and will likely be terminated after she allegedly engaged in "a lengthy and repeated pattern of gross misconduct with minor female students," according to school officials.

The Crestview Board of Education voted on Monday to suspend Clark without pay after conducting an investigation into the teacher's alleged misconduct with up to 5 different female students.

Following a lengthy investigation, District Superintendent John Dilling provided a six-page report outlining the accusations against Clark, citing "gross immorality" and "engaging in an inappropriate relationship with minor female students including intentional, improper physical contact of a sexual nature."

The report lists the specific events, times, dates and activities of the teacher's conduct obtained through Clark's own statements, parent witnesses, student witnesses and teacher witnesses.

Among the allegations, the report alleges that a student admitted that Clark kissed her on the lips. Staff at the school also witnessed Clark repeatedly hugging, touching and kissing female students throughout the 2007-2008 school year.

School Principal, John Garcia, then met with Clark to discuss the inappropriate behavior however the report alleges that the teacher continued to engage in that activity, despite Garcia's warnings.

On March 3rd, school administrators instructed Clark that text messaging students was inappropriate behavior and directed her to stop, however Clark allegedly continued to message the student, logging approximately 4,000 minutes in cell phone coversations with that student.

On May 20th a school employee witnessed Clark kissing a student on the lips and embracing her in her class room. On other occasions, Clark was observed kissing students on the lips, rubbing their arms, exchanging "I love you" sentiments and similar behaviors.

The Crestview board voted 4 - 0 to consider termination, but will not finalize the vote until August 18, allowing Clark an opportunity to appeal.

Teachers and students both stated their support for Clark, expressing that they felt the teacher shouldn't be fired, because she's a good 'moral' person.

The Weekly Vice Opinion:

Alright, I have a statement for the "supportive" students and the teacher's union. Are you out of your friggen mind?

Seriously - what in your twisted, degenerate mind leads you to believe any adult has a right to drape themselves all over any one's child - leading up to kissing, fondling, hugging, groping, hiding out in a classroom with them or any other bizarre behavior Clark engaged in?

A teacher is not a buddy, counselor, or sex consultant. She's employed to teach, not text message like a giddy school girl. She's there to grade your test, not play footsie while the class movie plays. And for God's sake, what does kissing multiple girls have to do with teaching?

Students - you're going to find out soon enough that this kind of activity is not tolerated out in the work force world, even among consenting adults. The quickest way to get yourself sued in today's world is to start touching, hugging, kissing them in the workplace. Do you get that? Do you understand this behaviour isn't acceptable anywhere in real life except perhaps massage parlor? I hope so, or else you'll have a rough road ahead.

While I know a 15 year old student THINKS they are an adult...these girls are still some one's child. The teacher's union here should be denouncing this kind of behavior, not encouraging it. The fact that they pacify THESE kind of allegations only proves their motivations and makes me wonder how widespread the problem is at this school.

Yes, I get it. From a "hot for teacher" standpoint, the story is somewhat titilating, but we all have to grow up some time - and so does Shari Clark. She must grow up and live in the real world like everyone else. She does not live in a magical kid fondling play world.

Judge Judy Interupted By Earthquake - Taping Haulted After 5.4 Magnitude Quake Struck Southern California On Tuesday

Los Angeles, California (The Weekly Vice) -- While some might say Judge Judy knows how to shake up a courtroom, even her fiery temper couldn't quite compete with the 5.4 magnitude earthquake that struck Los Angeles on Tuesday - which interrupted a taping of the syndicated program.

The show's taping was temporarily postponed when the building suddenly began to shake, prompting audience members to vacate the "courtroom" as the "plaintiff" looked around in disbelief.

The quake, which was considered 'moderate' in magnitude, is believed to have centered near Chino Hills, California with as many as 27 aftershocks detected. Buildings rumbled from Los Angeles to San Diego, with tremors being felt as far away as Las Vegas according to some reports.

We kinda like the female litigant (appears to be the plaintiff) who wasn't about to let anyone pull her away from her case.

We're told that taping resumed later that afternoon.

Annette Martinez - New Mexico Woman Allegedly Admits To Sexually Assaulting 14 Year Old Up To 40 Times

Las Cruces, New Mexico (The Weekly Vice) -- Annette Martinez, a 25 year old Las Cruces, New Mexico babysitter has been arrested after allegedly admitting that she sexually assaulted a 14 year old boy repeatedly. Told police she's in love with him.

Las Cruces authorities say Martinez was arrested on Tuesday and charged with one felony count of sexual penetration of a minor after she allegedly admitted to police she had sex with the 14-year-old about 40 times. The victim stated the number incidents was about 10 times.

According to the arrest affidavit, Martinez admitted to starting a relationship with the teen on July 8th after babysitting the boy and his two siblings for over a month. She also allegedly told police that she was in love with the boy and wanted to have his child. She also believed that the teen felt the same way about her.

Police first became aware of Martinez behavior when the teen got into an argument with his mother and left his home for Martinez' home. Afterwards during a conversation with the boy's mother, Martinez allegedly broke down crying, admitting to her that she had been having a relationship with the woman's son.

In a twist to the case, Martinez now claims that she may be pregnant as a result of the multiple sexual encounters she's had with the teen.

Martinez was booked into the Dona Ana County Detention Center on a $5,000 bond.

It never ceases to amaze me how many times we find these seemingly normal, fairly attractive women who probably ignore the attention of regular guys, but then trip all over themselves over a little kid. In a lot of these cases, we aren't referring to just a sexual encounter. It's this weird kind of giddy love thing that just defies all logic.

Would some female please explain what on earth could possibly be attractive about a 14 year old kid that would turn a grown woman into a lovesick hound dog who makes a complete fool of herself? The rest of us would really like to know.

Kenneth Douglas - Morgue Worker Indicted By Grand Jury On Charges Of Raping Murdered Woman’s Corpse

Cincinnati, Ohio (The Weekly Vice) -- Kenneth Douglas, a 55 year old former coroner's office employee from Westwood, Ohio has been formally indicted by a grand jury in the 1982 rape of a murder victim's corpse.

In 1982, 19-year-old Karen Range was beaten and her throat slashed at the hands of a door-to-door salesman named David Steffen. Shortly after the murder, an autopsy revealed that Range's body had also been raped.

While Steffen was convicted for Karen Range's murder and now sits on Ohio's death row, his attorneys have maintained that he never raped the woman.

Now, 26 years later, DNA evidence has allegedly uncovered who did rape Karen Range - however the answer has the country reeling in disgust with the answer. That's because authorities now believe Karen Range was sexually assaulted as her cold body laid in the city morgue.

Investigators finally found a match to the semen found inside Karen Range's body. It came when 55 year old Kenneth Douglas was arrested in March on drug charges. During that arrest, a DNA sample was obtained which prosecutors say provides a positive match to the DNA obtained from the murdered woman's body.

According to police, Douglas worked at the morgue from 1976 to 1992 and was responsible for checking Range's body into the morgue soon after the murder occurred. Hamilton County Prosecutors say Douglas' job provided him the opportunity to sexually assault Range's unwashed body after it had been stored in the cooler for approximately four hours.

"Now we know what happened," said Hamilton County prosecutor Joe Deters. "As horrific as it is, now we know."

Douglas was arrested on Friday and was then formally indicted on a charge of 'gross abuse of a corpse' on Monday. He was ordered held on a $700,000 bond.

The Weekly Vice Opinion:

This case could prove to be a real powder keg, since it's not unlikely this sick, twisted piece of garbage raped more corpses than just one. They say the first is always the hardest after all.

In either event, this isn't the first incidence of a morgue or hospital employee raping a dead body. Earlier this month we profiled the case of a group of teens who dug a girl up out of the ground to rape her.

There are some seriously freakish masses of body tissue parading around as human beings in this world. I'd say Douglas' new cell mates might rape him the same way he raped this girl, but I doubt even a cold hearted criminal would want to touch this nasty piece of pond scum.

NYPD Cop Assaults ‘Critical Mass’ Event Bike Rider, Arrests Him And Then Allegedly Lies About The Attack On Arrest Report

New York, New York (The Weekly Vice) -- A New York Police Department officer has been re-assigned to desk duty, pending an investigation, after a You Tube video showed the officer body checking a Critical Mass bicyclist off of his bike.

Critical Mass, a bicycle ride normally held on the last Friday of each month as a form of protest against reliance on vehicles and bicyclist/motorist relations, has been a long standing irritation to the New York Police Department.

Although attempts by New York City to ban the event have failed in court, the tradition has created a somewhat adversarial relationship between the riders and NYPD officers who detest the event.

This past Friday, witnesses say a NYPD officer (now identified as 22 year old Officer Patrick Pogan) attacked rider Christopher Long at random, body checking the rider off his bike.

Reportedly, Long was arrested and charged with attempted assault, resisting arrest and disorderly conduct. According to the arrest affidavit, Long "deliberately steered his bicycle into the officer, causing both of them to fall to the ground."

A bystander however had a video camera and posted the incident on You Tube. While the officer has been relieved of his gun and has been reassigned to desk duty pending the outcome of an investigation - charges against the rider have not been dropped.

We have a bone to pick with the New York district attorney's office

The Weekly Vice Opinion:

It's quite simple really. If this video isn't compelling enough proof that the 'unnamed' officer abused his position and then lied about it in an arrest affidavit, then we're going to have to add corruption of the prosecutor's office to the growing list of concerns in this case.

Furthermore, why is the officer uncharged ? If Officer Pogue were not on duty, he'd quite easily qualify for assault charges here.

It's pretty apparent - unless you're severely cross-eyed, that the rider slowed down and tried to go around the officer. As the officer lunged towards the rider, he continued to veer leftward in an attempt to stay clear of the officer. It's really pretty dumbfoundingly clear who assaulted who.

To the New York City prosecutor's office I ask: How many times do you have to watch the video before it dawns on you something isn't right here? Put the prostitute down, watch the video and get this issue effectively resolved before New York tax payers have to pay for the lawsuit that this rider could legitimately file against the city. Duh!

Zachary R. Harding - Family Takes Teen Into Their Home To Help Him. Teen Repays Them By Molesting Their 5-Year-Old Son

Virginia City, Nevada (The Weekly Vice) -- Zachary R. Harding, an 18 year old Storey County man who was arrested on charges of molesting a 5 year old boy earlier this month, is now facing additional charges of child pornography.

According to the Storey County Sheriff's department, an investigation was launched July 10th after deputies received a complaint that Harding had molested a 5-year-old boy. Investigators say Harding was staying with the victim's family and allegedly molested the boy when he was supposed to be babysitting him.

Storey County Sheriff's Dept. Sgt. Ken Quirk said the victim told his parents that Harding had been fondling him in some way. Upon hearing the allegations, the family told Harding to leave the house and then called police.

Investigators were able to track Harding down at a home in Washoe Valley. During the interview, investigators say Harding admitted that he "may have" child pornography on his computer.

Detectives obtained a search warrant for Hardings computer that Friday and learned a short time later that Harding had downloaded thousands of child pornography images. Detectives say the age range of the children in the images ranged from six months old to 13 years old.

Zachary Harding is being held at the Storey County Jail on $100,000 bond. He is facing charges of felony lewdness with a child younger than 14, indecent or obscene exposure, and two counts of possessing child pornography.

In Harding's MySpace page, he is pretty adamant about declaring that he "loves himself". Perhaps he should have just stuck to loving himself, and left this little boy alone.

Spencer Taylor - Man Dressed As ‘The Joker’ Attacks Cinema Showing Batman The Dark Knight

Three Rivers, Michigan (The Weekly Vice) -- Spencer Taylor, a 20 year old Three Rivers, Michigan man was arrested after dressing up like "The Joker" and then attempting to steal Batman posters and memorabilia at a local cinema.

According to police, Taylor went to the Three Rivers 6 cinema where the new movie 'Batman The Dark Knight' was playing and attempted to steal Batman Movie posters and memorabilia.

Theater employees witnessed Taylor allegedly stealing the various items while dressed up like "The Joker". Witnesses say Taylor was dressed in a purple outfit, green wig and Joker-like facial paint.

The employees then restrained Taylor and called police.

Taylor was arrested on charges of Larceny and malicious destruction of property. He is scheduled to appear in court on August 5th to respond to the charges.

Virginia Jaramillo - Beat Her 12 Year Old Cancer Victim Son So Badly, He Was Kept Home From School For Days So He Could Heal

Albuquerque, New Mexico (The Weekly Vice) -- Virginia Jaramillo 36, and Daniel Chavez, 47, have been arrested and charged with felony child abuse after beating her 12-year-old cancer stricken son so badly, she kept him home from school for days until his injuries could heal.

Albuquerque police say a 12 year old boy suffering from cancer was beaten by his mother while her live-in boyfriend held him down.

Police first learned about the teens abuse after Polk Middle School officials contacted them about the alleged abuse. When school officials questioned the 12-year-old about his injuries, he admitted to them that he was being repeatedly beaten by his mother and the mother's live-in boyfriend.

When Bernalillo County Deputies interviewed the victim, he told them he was allegedly beaten with a belt, punched in the face and even had his head stomped during the latest attack.

Jaramillo, the boy's mother, then made the boy stay home from school for several days to try to hide the boy's injuries, investigators say.

When deputies interviewed Jaramillo, they say she first blamed the boy's cancer for the injuries - telling them that he "bruises easily". She allegedly broke down later, admitting that she beat the boy in an "an uncontrollable rage", hitting her son with a belt several times."

Although the abuse happened back in April of this year, Jaramillo allegedly told her son not to tell anyone about the beating. When questioned about why she kept the boy home from school, investigators sayJaramillo told them it was "To cover my butt".

Jaramillo and Chavez are both currently jailed on a $25,000 bond.

If there was any true justice, Daniel Chavez' balls would be smashed by an iron mallet, so he could never procreate.

This woman (who we won't call a mother) would be chained to the hottest ember in hell for the senseless inhumanity it takes to hurt a cancer victim even once. But to fill what's left of his life with beatings? That just goes beyond the pale. $25,000 bond really insults the intelligence as well.

Mark Evan Brown - Principal Of Christian School Accused Of Encouraging Girl To Run Away - Then Raping Her

Arlington, Washington (The Weekly Vice) -- Mark Evan Brown, a 37 year old Principal at Highland Christian School in Arlington, Washington has been arrested and charged with 3rd-degree rape of a 14 year old student.

According to police, Brown helped a 14-year-old female student run away from home, allegedly sending the teen hundreds of text messages in the process.

Police say Brown converted a seldom used room at the school into a bedroom for the girl, complete with hide-away bed and television. After the girl left her home, Brown allegedly made his move, supplying the girl with Bacardi Rum and then raping her.

Police say Brown was very direct in encouraging the girl to leave her home. Among the many messages exchanged between the two, Brown allegedly told the girl, "We just have to keep moving u around," and "Calm down, yur almost free...It will be ok. If something happens I'll be there early in the morning. Either way lets get u out."

Prosecutors say authorities first learned of the alleged behavior when the teen's parents reported their daughter missing. Detectives were able to track down the girl's whereabouts through her cell phone four days later.

Prosecutors now say Brown has violated a protection order, imposed by the court following Brown's arrest. Although the judge ordered Brown to not contact the girl, investigators say he has spoken to the girl three times, allegedly asking her to not talk about the sexual contact.

Brown's own ex-wife Casey has also come out with allegations of her own, stating that Brown began a sexual relationship with her when she was 14 years old - he was 26 years old at the time. She also stated that during their marriage collapsed after she allegedly discovered inappropriate text messages between him and a cheerleader at Concrete High School where he worked at the time.

"I knew that the kind of man I was living with was, in my words, a pedophile," she stated.

Brown was arraigned on Wednesday, where bond was set at $100,00.

Highland Christian School board members attended Wednesday's hearing to 'show support' for the embattled principal stating they they "stand behind him".

Guilty or innocent, I have a problem at this point with the school board, who seems to have taken sides with their comments.

This is a Christian school, where parents pay a high price to insure their kids get an education free from this kind of nonsense. Perhaps board members should remember that it's the same parents - who may have been betrayed greatly here - who pay the board members salaries.

It's not their place to add insult to injury by taking ANY kind of position on the matter other than assuring parents that they are redoubling their efforts to ensure their children are safe. That's their job, not making decisions about guilt or innocence. Not running down to a courthouse to express their own opinions.

For those parents who write out a check to these imprudent board members - I want you to be aware of something. Even a public school board knows well enough to let law enforcement deal with matters like this, so the school can get 100% of it's focus on the kids and nothing else. That's their job. That's what you pay them for. Are you getting your money's worth?

Justin Tolman - Colorado State Patrol Officer Busted In Internet Child Sex Sting Operation

Justin 'Tolminator' Tolman, a 22 year old Colorado State Patrol officer from Colorado Springs, Colorado was arrested at his home Friday morning on suspicion of sexual exploitation of a child and Internet luring of a child.

According to Fort Lupton Police, officer Tolman used the Internet to send sexually graphic pictures of himself to what he thought was a 14-year-old girl. That would-be girl was actually a detective who set up accounts on MySpace and Yahoo posing as a 14-year-old girl.

Authorities say as soon as the decoy accounts were set up, Tolman began messaging the undercover officer, sending her pornographic images of himself and explaining what he would do sexually when they met.

The detective who set up the decoy sites, Det. Crystal Schwartz, said Tolman didn't hide the fact that he was a state trooper. "The first conversation he sent a picture," said Schwartz. That picture was of Tolman standing in a State Patrol uniform next to a patrol vehicle.

Investigators say Tolman messaged the girl every day for two months.

"Every day he was pushing toward something," said Fort Lupton Police Chief, Ron Grannis. "This gentleman was in a position of trust, wearing a badge, and I think it's a good thing we've got him off the street now," he added.

Justin 'The Tolminator' Tolman was booked into the Weld County Jail and has been placed on paid administrative leave pending the outcome of the investigation.

Laura Kirkland - Teacher, Day Care Worker And Babysitter Allegedly Admits To Repeatedly Raping And Sodomizing 10 Year Old Boy

Springfield, Missouri (The Weekly Vice) -- Laura Kirkland, a 25 year old fifth-grade teacher at Christian Schools of Springfield, and area daycare worker has been arrested and charged with the rape and sodomy of an 11 year old boy who she says was 10 years old at the time.

According to police, Laura Kirkland repeatedly raped and sodomized the boy that she babysat over a two year period between July 12th, 2006 and July 12th, 2008.

During an interview at the Child Advocacy Center, the victim told authorities that he was "scared when she would do this to him," according to a probably cause affidavit filed by the Springfield Police Department.

Kirkland allegedly admitted to police that she performed oral sex on the child three times and had sexual intercourse twice when the boy was 10 years old.

Mark Rounsaville, pastor of Baptist Temple Church said Kirkland had worked as a fifth grade teacher at it's Christian school, but would not be returning this fall.

Jessica Holland, owner of Nurturing Place Day Care in Springfield, Missouri said Kirkland had been dismissed from her position at the daycare.

Kirkland has been incarcerated at the Greene County Jail and ordered held on a $75,000 bond. Kirkland's next court appearance is scheduled for August 26.

Donald Joe Zeller - Dog And Child Raping Longview Man, Caught After Selling MP3 Player On Craigslist

Longview, Washington (The Weekly Vice) -- Donald Joe Zeller, a 20 year old Longview Washington man has been arrested on child rape and pornography charges after selling an MP3 player on Craigslist that contained sexually explicit material of children.

According to police, Zeller used Craiglist to sell an MP3 player - but forgot to delete something of interest. When the new owner got the new device home, he learned a lot about it's previous owner rather quickly. The device allegedly contained child pornography. Police first learned about the elicit material on June 11th when the MP3 player's new owner contacted them to report Zeller.

Investigators were able to trace the device back to Zeller and then drove out to his family's home to have a chat about the their findings.

During questioning, police say Zeller admitted ownership of the pornography. He then allegedly admitted that he had molested a 14 year old foster child that had been living at his family's home.

According to court documents, Zeller told police that he had fantasies about young children and admitted to sexually abusing both the child living in the home as well as one of the family dogs.

While authorities won't officially decide on which charges to pursue until Monday, he is currently being held on two counts of second-degree rape of a child, indecent exposure and possession of child pornography. Bail in his case has been set at $100,000.

Jennifer Russell – Woman Arrested Half Nude While Playing ‘Truth Or Dare” With Teens In A Public Park

Edgewater, Florida (The Weekly Vice) -- Jennifer Russell, a 43 year old Smyrna Beach woman has been arrested and charged with lewd and lascivious conduct after she was caught running through a park while playing "Truth or Dare" with a group of teens.

According to a police affidavit, an officer on patrol Wednesday at the Whistlestop Park in Edgewater, Florida noticed several teenagers running from a park bathroom to a nearby pavilion. Upon closer inspection, the officer noticed that an adult was running along with the group, with her shirt removed.

Police say the teens, aged 15 and 16 years old had dared the woman to expose her breasts. The woman had removed her shirt and was about to remove her bra, according to the teens, however they all ran when an officer appeared on scene.

When officers asked the Russell why she removed her shirt, she told them she "was getting hot". She also told police they "were standing around the side of the building in the dark, so it's not like the boys could see my breasts anyways," according to the report.

When officers asked about alcohol that was sitting on a nearby picnic table, the teens admitted Russell had provided it for them. Russell's purse was searched, which also turned up narcotics including methadone, muscle relaxers and anti anxiety medication.

Russell was arrested on charges of lewd and lascivious conduct in the presence of a minor, two counts of possession of narcotics, two counts of providing alcohol to minors and possession of a prescription drug without a prescription.

Police transported Russell to the Volusia County Branch Jail Wednesday afternoon and she was released on a $6,500 bail that evening.

We hope she'll pursue some resources for methadone clinics in Florida.

Christopher Dwayne Watson – Sex Offender Serves Just 90 Days, Even After Authorities Find List Of Underaged Girls He Plans To ‘Look Up’

Ontario, Oregon (The Weekly Vice) -- Do sex offenders who sit in jail for short term sentences learn their lesson? You tell us. This convicted sex offender was stupid enough to write down what was going through his mind as he sat in jail waiting to be released.

Christopher Dwayne Watson, a convicted sex offender who received a 90 day "summer break" jail sentence after sexually assaulting a 15 year old has made a list of 32 girls that he plans "to look up" once he's release from jail on Friday.

Watson's list, which has both parents and the girls named on the list living in fear, includes the names of 32 young girls aged between 6 to 17 years old.

"They're now prisoners. Our kids are prisoners and we don't know what to do to make it better for them," said a parent, who has a daughter is on the list.

Authorities say Watson likely used newspaper articles to find the girls he planned "To look up". The list is reportedly detailed, lacking only the address, which Watson expressed interest in finding when he was released.

"My daughter feels like her freedom has been taken away, because she's afraid to go anywhere, because he is going to be in our community. And it's scary," said another parent who's daughter is on the list.

"My daughter has been scared to death. She can't sleep at night, she's wondering, I hear that this guy is getting out," said a third parent who's daughter is on the list.

Ontario authorities sent notices to the parents of the girls, informing them of the list Watson made.

Erin Landis, with Malhuer County District Attorney's offices announced that despite the list, Watson "is done serving his 90 day sentence, and the law can no longer hold him."

"We've done done what we feel we can," Landis said. "We've got him housed at the community Corrections Center. It's our expectation that he will spend the vast majority of his time there. If he does choose to leave, that's an option, but we are going to keep an eye on him with GPS."

Ontario authorities are working on a plan to transfer Watson back to his home state of Georgia, once he is released, however part of Watson's sentence includes 36 months of supervised probation. It's unclear how one state will impose it's sentence, using another state's resources.

Watson reportedly traveled to the Ontario area to have sex with a 15 year old girl that he met over the Internet.

While Oregon has been strengthening it's sex offender laws over the last few years, it's pretty clear that those laws have a ways to go. Sentencing a convicted sex offender to a mere 90 days in jail is truly a summer break. To call it real jail time is ludicrous.

What we don't understand is this. Malhuer County residents are literally living in fear - however I'm not hearing any outrage towards the judge and legal system that set this man up for a summer vacation in jail instead of a serious sentence. They want law enforcement to take this man out of the community, which is great. But you do that by literally taking him OUT of the community and putting him in jail.

In a legal system that respects freedom of speech, you can't put a man in jail for writing names down on a piece of paper. But once he molests a child, you make darn sure he's removed from society for years - not months.

Oregon, please tell me you are getting that. Please tell me you're learning. Please tell me you'll remember this, the next time you vote for a judge - an attorney general - a congressman or senator. Weak laws only turn innocent kids into prisoners, instead of the offenders who stalk them

Missing 15-Year-Old Girl Has Been Found. 33 Year Old Man Arrested In Her Disappearance

Lawrence, Kansas (The Weekly Vice) -- Ashley Brown, a 15-year-old Katy, Texas teenager who has been missing since April 24th of this year has now been found. Police have also arrested and charged a 33 year old man that police suspect to have aided in her disappearance.

Ricky Lynn Bacon Jr., a 33 year old Lawrence, Kansas man was arrested at about 1:20 Monday afternoon and charged with felony aggravated indecent liberties with a child and contributing to a child's misconduct.

According to investigators, Bacon helped the 15-year-old girl run away from her Katy, Texas home approximately 3 months ago. Despite widespread media coverage of the case, the youth has been missing ever since.

Investigators got a break in the case on July 8th when the teenager presumably logged into her MySpace account. Authorities were able to isolate the i.p. address to the Lawrence, Kansas area, but reportedly could not pin point the exact location.

Responding on a tip from a neighbor, police were able to discover the teenager's whereabouts on Monday and took her into custody. Ashley Brown was transported to a juvenile center while awaiting transport back to Texas.

Ashley Brown's mother stated that her daughter has had a history of running away, has had trouble in school and often sought attention.

"I can't even explain the relief that I'm feeling," said Ashley's mother. "Knowing that she's alive and healthy and off the street. Maybe now we can finally get the help she needs."

Bacon currently remains in custody and has been ordered held on a $75,000 bond.

We feel the severity of the case - and the intense media coverage that surrounds it SURELY warrants that the man be identified. Newspaper Misspelled It’s Own Name On Front Page - All 20 Readers Agree “Misstakes Happin”

Lebanon, New Hampshire (The Weekly Vice) -- On Monday, July 21st, readers of New Hampshire's Valley News may have wondered if the front page was actually the new 'funny pages' for the paper that day.

While every print and Internet based news resource will likely have a typo or misspelled word at some point, Valley News may just go down as this year's most obvious print journalism oversight.

As you can see above, the newspaper printed Monday's edition with "Valley Newss" on the front page masthead. It's quite an unusual sight among major publications these days, especially with the advent of spell check tools available on most word processing programs.

The paper printed an editor's note in it's following publication addressing the mistake:

"Readers may have noticed that the Valley News misspelled its own name on yesterday's front page. Given that we routinely call on other institutions to hold themselves accountable for their mistakes, let us say for the record: We sure feel silly."

The Valley News is a daily newspaper based in Lebanon, New Hampshire, covering the Upper Valley region of New Hampshire and Vermont.
