Mesa, Arizona (The Weekly Vice) -- Synjan Mitchell, and 18-year-old Arizona woman has been arrested on child abuse and under-aged alcohol consumption charges after police say she drank while babysitting two children, abandoned them and then attacked the mother who returned to find her children alone.
According to police, a Mesa, Arizona mother asked her boyfriend's sister to watch her children (aged 5-months-old and 1-years-old), while she went out for the evening on Wednesday.
Investigators say the mother returned at around 11 pm that evening to find the front door of the apartment open with her two children alone inside. She also told investigators that loud music was playing and beer cans were scattered across the floor.
When Mitchell allegedly returned to the apartment a short time later, the mother confronted her about abandoning her children. Mitchell allegedly then slapped the children's mother across the face during a physical altercation that insued, according to police.
When police arrived, Mitchell told them she had left to buy cigarettes, but had taken the children with her. A neighbor allegedly disputed that claim however, telling police the woman had left without the children approximately a half hour prior to the mother's arrival.
Mitchell was arrested on charges of child abuse and underage consumption of alcohol.

What always gets me in these stories is the nosey neighbor who always sees something - but never lifts a damn finger to make the situation right. If you see two kids abandoned alone with the front door wide open for a half hour - what would you do?
By the way, what is the deal with teen girls these days - who seem to pluck the living daylights out of their eyebrows.

well if she looks like that at 18, I don't think I wanna look when she's 48. Is that a dead cat on her head or hair?
LOL on the eyebrows comment; I don't understand that, either...but as far as the situation goes, she definitely needs a reality check courtesy of the state jail. The audacity of her to attack the mother of the child she was supposed to have been watching! But also, I think parents need to screen their babysitters much more carefully!
