Ocala, Florida (The Weekly Vice) -- Misty Dawn Everly, a 34-year-old Ocala, Florida woman has been arrested after she conned a Florida church out of $1,000, claiming her pre-school daughter needed a kidney transplant.
Everly faces multiple charges, according to both Marion and Levy County authorities following a string of attempts to con Levy County churches out of donation money for a kidney transplant her daughter never needed.
According to investigators, Everly walked into three churches in Williston and two churches in Bronson, telling church staff and congregation that she needed money to get her daughter to Memphis for a Kidney transplant.
Everly allegedly told a Bronson, Florida church on November 23 that she needed money for a kidney transplant resulting from cancer the child had suffered.
She went on to tell the congregation that she received a call from St. Jude's Hospital in Memphis, Tennessee advising her that the hospital had a donor on life support and that she needed to bring her child in as soon as possible to complete the transplant.
Everly then lowered the boom on the congregation, asking for prayer and money to pay for the trip. The congregation took up a collection and offered the money to Everly.
Investigators say when that service was over, Everly crossed the street and repeated the same story to another church . When the weekend of Nov. 30 rolled around, sheriff's deputies say Everly repeated the scam on two more churches, netting $1,000 according to Williston police chief Dan Davis.
The scam began to unravel when St. Jude's Hospital reported having no records of Everly or a kidney transplant for her daughter. When interviewed by detectives, Everly allegedly admitted that her daughter was not sick. Detectives also noted that Everly's daughter acted peculiar - as if she was cognizant that her mother was being deceptive.
Everly was arrested and booked into the Marion County jail on the Levy County charges because she is also facing an additional charge for violating probation out of Marion County.
In 2006, Everly was convicted for writing bad checks totalling between $300 and $5,000. She faces charges of violating probation in addition to fraud.
Investigators say a friend is now taking care of Everly's daughter while she is incarcerated, however that friend may facing charges soon as well. A witness told detectives that the 'friend' Everly asked to to watch her daughter is the same 'friend' who drove her from church to church.

Also on this story, police say she has a rap sheet that's four pages long. How can you have a rap sheet that long and still be running around comitting felonies. Some people just will never learn to work for themselves.
Turnabout is fair play. How long have churches been taking food from the mouths of children?
Nicolas, you're really a moron.
Churches account for a majority of the food, materials and healthcare aid that reaches the third world.
When hurricane Katrina hit, who do you think housed some 35-40% of the displaced residents?
It's the most economical and well organized source of charity in the world - yet you have the sphincter to justify what this woman did.
Hopefully you'll be as accepting of her behavior when it's your dumb ass that gets robbed. Lets hope it happens soon. An education in reality would be a benefit to you.
Nick's statement just goes to show you how people justify this kind of thing. They always have a reason for hurting someone. Either they think it's fair or they think the victim has it coming to them.
Congratulations nick for demonstrating exactly how people justify their crimes.
This woman didn't rob a church you punk. She robbed people directly.
Humm, she's not all that unattractive. Why doesn't she just find some guy who's willing to be her sugar daddy. Happens all the time.
Oh, the churches have been splendid charities. You can tell that by their opulent palaces in the midst of miserable poverty around the world. Every dollar for "god" is one dollar less for the support and education of kids.
Don't bring up katrina in this. you don't know. HURRICANE KATRINA WAS A TERRORIST ATTACK. yup, its true. Just check out the book Katrina Nights. Go to http://hurricanekatrinakaif.com
