Michael Albert Villafana Jail Intake Record
Clearwater, Florida (The Weekly Vice) -- Michael A. Villafana, a 31-year-old licensed practical nurse employed by a nursing home, called in sick so he could rob it the same day.
According to police, Villafana called in sick to his employer - the Highland Pines Nursing Home, located in Clearwater on November 26. Later that day, the nursing home also reported to police that it had been robbed by a masked gunman who demanded narcotics.
Investigators say the robber used an employee access code to get inside the facility, located at 111 S. Highland ave. while armed with a 9mm handgun. Nursing home staff told authorities the gunman made off with several narcotics including hydrocodone, methadone, morphine and oxycodone. The robber then allegedly used the same employee code to exit the building.
After a week long investigation, police arrested Villafana, who they say was the gunman who robbed the facility. Investigators recovered the 9 mm pistol and stolen drugs in the arrest.
Villafana was booked into the Pinellas County Jail on armed robbery charges pending a $50,000 bond.
