Matawan, New Jersey (The Weekly Vice) -- Lisa Glide, a 35-year-old drama teacher at Old Bridge High School in Old Bridge, New Jersey has been arrested on charges that she had a sexual relationship with a 17-year-old student.
According to Middlesex County Prosecutors, an investigation was launched on November 25 after authorities received information alleging that Glide became sexually involved with a student in February, while he was 17-years-old.
Authorities arrested Glide on Wednesday on multiple felony charges including 2nd-degree sexual assault and 2nd-degree child endangerment.
Investigators say the sexual activity began in February while the boy was still a student at the school. He graduated from the high school in June.
Glide, who resides in Howell Township was booked into the Middlesex County Adult Correction Center. Bail has not yet been established in the case

In my research I've learned that rumors had circulated around the school of an alleged relationship of some kind existing between the teacher and the student involved. Apparently, the student worked directly with her in several school plays and a good portion of the students seem to be aware of who the student is. This being the case - I'm going to encourage open discussion on the case so long as the student's name is not used.

It's really hard to imagine calling anything with HER abuse. If the guy is 18 and graduated, he'd have to be kind of a ninny to turn her in I think. Upset she broke it off perhaps?
This story is going to be just like all other stories in a small town.Stretched out by people who don't know what exactly went on. The bottom line is she was wrong. She had power over this student and used it inappropriately. Get your facts straight before you post ignorant comments. She was my childs teacher for 4 years. She always appeared to be a good teacher, however as we are taught at a young age, appearance means nothing. If it were a male teacher with a female student, there would not be a question about the validity. He should not be blamed for something that she, as an adult knew it was wrong.
You are Obviously a woman. Let me give you the male perspective.
Most males of that age see a reasonable attractive female teacher or student, considering the male hormone levels at that age and are driven to mate.
Many of us guys talked about what we'd love to do to the "new student teacher" or the hot substitute that came along from time to time.
The kid had graduated and if he had turned 18 either shortly before or after that, none of us would have heard a thing about it.
He lived what alot of guys only fantasized about. Perhaps you should get your facts straight, she didnt have power over him since early this year. And he was still banging her. You do the math.

Well I do know who the student was and Vice is correct. He was in most of the school plays. He was her favorite - it was obvious. But she was always a little off. Something didn't seem right with her.
Yeah, I bet she found someone else and decided to cut him off. that's the trick bag these teachers don't ever think about when getting involved with these students. Eventually, he/she will get tired of it and want to move on. But that's when all h3ll breaks loose.
Failed relationship maybe but she was still wrong. I understand that the boy is now an adult and is probably upset that the relationship came to an end but that being said it should never have started and she being the adult should have known better. Yes it is every teenage boys fantasy to "do" his hot teacher. My sons included. I too have a son who had her a couple of years ago and he said he thought she was hot and wished it were him she had the affair with(I am glad it was not him). I met her on several occasions and she is a nice person but nice people do make bad decisions sometimes. In this case her mistake will be up for discussion and will likely cost her her job and she will probably never teach again. This does not mean she is a bad person. She just made a huge mistake which unfortunatly is against the law. I wish her all the best in the future.

The student in question did win a lot of parts, but he was pretty good from what I hear - hence the reason why something probably happened with them. But she certainly didn't appear obsessed by any means. but that's just me.
I think she should probably not teach, but go to jail? I don't see that ever happening. I bet she gets probation and maybe a little house arrest. I know she broke the law, but I don't consider it rape.

I personally know the student and the teacher and apparently the "affair" was going on a bit longer than the charges are for.
She is a good person- going through a rough time. She has cancer. Also, she is pregnant with another mans child. This is a very difficult time in her life- you can imagine. It almost seemed like a movie plot.
The boy, however, has had quite a sexual scandal in school. And yes, he was in a majority of the plays. Mostly, the musicals.
This is a horrible siuation but it couldnt be any juicier.
When I learned of this- to be honest- I wasn't TOO schocked.

It says she's from Old Bridge. Matawan is the town. She actually doesn't live in Matawan, she lives in Howell. Matawan is where the school is at.
Anyway, if she really has cancer, then I'm pretty saddened by this whole thing. That is something I didn't know.
People do a lot of strange things when faced with life or death situations, and locking her up isn't going to teach her a lesson she isn't already experiencing.
I think something should be done with her, but I agree, jail isn't it.

Ten years ago I was a substitute drama teacher in NJ. I was in my early 30s and considered "hot." The 17 year olds I met were not children. Several were undoubtedly more sexually experienced than I was. I'm not saying that's the case here. But I do think that this kid was not "endangered." 20 years ago people wrote songs celebrating those liasons.

I'm supporting a family of four on $10.00 an hour that I get as a substitute for the Old Bridge district. Meanwhile, Lisa Glide just recklessly throws away her $53K+ salary, while I've been trying to get a full-time teaching job in the district for years. And to think how conscientious I have been about not letting students talk during fire drills, trying to keep them quiet and well-behaved in class, monitoring them like a hawk, assisting them as needed, and making sure they completed their assignments timely and accurately, because I did not want to get into trouble for not doing my job properly! (After all, God forbid someone should think I was not comporting myself in a professional manner!) What a chump I feel like now. When I think of how this woman collected money during the summer for doing absolutely nothing, while I have not been entitled to sick leave, unemployment insurance, disability, medical or dental care, summer pay, or even basic respect and recognition for carrying out lesson plans strictly and completely...it just makes me sick. To think I used to feel shy and intimidated when I was around the other teachers or the administrators, because I felt I wasn't as good as they are. Guess what, those days are over. The district administration calls Old Bridge "a primary district", sort of like a "Blue Ribbon" district. I don't think so. Not if they're denying gainful employment to qualified workers like me, while simultaneously handing jobs on silver platters to people who clearly don't deserve the job, the salary, the benefits, the prestige, or the privilege of educating and supervising students. I had been hoping Old Bridge Schools would call me for an interview. Forget it now. I no longer want my name associated with that district. You can disagree with my views and challenge them all you please, I'm not the one who stupidly flushed a great career down the toilet.
It's just wrong - factually and morally - that our justice system still puts this sort of thing in the same category as child abuse. A 17-year-old boy in a consensual sexual affair with a young female drama teacher is in no way a victim. He's living out a fantasy that every hetero kid has had. Any 17-year-old boy would be the first to tell you that. For the police and courts to pretend otherwise and to stigmatize the people involved as abuser (and felon!) and abused is totally unnecessary and tragic. It helps no one. Your entire premise is based on bullshit. It's based solely on her level of attractiveness...Not based at all on her actions and the fact that she knowingly and enthusiastically crossed the line. A line that she is well aware of--unless she's absolutely ignorant. In the work place (where folks are of similar age) you shouldn't go fucking your subordinates....Also,as a teacher,you should not be fucking your students. It's as simple as that. It doesn't matter if the male student involved here is truly a victim, or even if he was 18, as long as he was a student at that high school it is illegal for the teacher to get involved!! This may be every straight teenager's dream come true but it's still a line that neither the student and especially not the teacher should have provoked...both knew that. In New Jersey, the legal age of consent is 16 with an exception for those a few years younger to consent to sex with someone who is not more than 4 years older. For example, a 14 year old and a 17 year old.
Miss Glide's charges stem from being in a position of trust and authority who violates that trust to carry out a sexual activity with someone who is under her authority.
Pedophilia is not the issue here since New Jersey statute gives a 17 year old the right to consent to sexual activity with an adult.
The issue is more one of violating the trust of the community. A person who has control over another person (a form of temporary custody) is bound to use that power in a trustworthy manner. Not turn the opportunity into a sexual conquest.
As the charges stand in this case, the defense actually might have a very good shot at getting these charges changed to that of a lesser crime. I'd be very surprised if Miss Glide didn't end up with a suspended sentence or a short term house arrest.
I could be completely surprised of course - stranger things have happened, but I'm not predicting much of a jail sentence for Miss Glide. I don't think she'll be teaching again, but then again, teaching wasn't what she primarily wanted to do anyway. She wanted to be an actress.
Just keep in mind however, prosecutors aren't alleging that this student was raped or molested.
This will be a major factor in how this case ends up being resolved.
I don't feel the least bit sorry for her. I had her as a teacher and can tell you. She's a b*tch. Completely biased and very overbearing. As for the so called victim. He was arrogant to. Glide was and will always be an amazing teacher. Every one of her students, including myself look up to her for what a GREAT person she is. MOST OF YOU BLOGGING have NO IDEA who she is and have no right to say a word about her. She was vulnerable, and has cancer and he was a perv.
