Theodore, Alabama (The Weekly Vice) -- Lawrence Edward Lee, a 45-year-old Alabama man was arrested on multiple charges after burning down his mobile home in an alleged retaliation for not getting a present.
According to Mobile police, Lee was arrested Thursday afternoon after allegedly setting fire to his mobile home at around 2:30 Thursday afternoon. The home was destroyed in the fire.
So what was the reason behind the fire?
Police say multiple reasons were given, however it appears that Lee was allegedly "depressed" after he didn't receive a Christmas present.
Sheryl Matthews, Lee's sister-in-law, told police and reporters that Lee told her that "he was depressed" and that "nobody loved him". He then informed her that he was going to set fire to his trailer with him inside it.
Family members rushed to the scene, but were unable to find Lee in the Blaze. Authorities later found him in the woods behind the trailer, reportedly intoxicated but unharmed.
"If I see him, I'm going to slap him just one hard time," stated his cousin, William Clemons. "I just want to slap him once for scaring me like that."
"Lee has given a couple different stories as to what happened," said Mobile Fire And Rescue Investigator Nick Boren. " The last time we asked, he said he fell asleep with a cigarette in his hand."
Investigators aren't buying the story.
Lee was arrested and booked into the Mobile County Metro Jail on charges of reckless endangerment, public intoxication, resisting arrest and possession of drug paraphernalia.
