Tampa, Florida (The Weekly Vice) -- Joshua Andrew Burnett, an 18-year-old Tampa man caught naked while smothering his pregnant girlfriend, gave cops a few more reasons to arrest him.
Burnett, seen above in various mugshots starting when he was 16 years old, seems to be a slow learner. He also seems to have horrible luck.
Tampa police were called to Burnett's home early Friday morning after his pregnant girlfriend called 911, telling the dispatcher that Burnett was trying to smother her with a pillow.
When deputies arrived, they found a completely naked Burnett who they informed would be going to jail.
When Burnett grabbed a pair of shorts from the floor, the officer asked to see it, according to the arrest report.
Inside the shorts, officers found $506 in cashed wrapped around Burnett's driver's license, a bag of marijuana and a bag of crack-cocaine.
Burnett was booked into the Hillsborough County Jail on charges of felony aggravated battery on a pregnant woman, possession of cannabis, possession of cocaine, possession of cocaine with intent to sell and possession of drug paraphernalia.
So how is this guy walking around after so many charges?
This of course was not Burnett's first go around with police. He began his exciting dance with stupidity at the tender age of 16 by furnishing a firearm to a minor.
Perhaps he enjoyed the prison chow or simply dug having a toilet a mere foot from his bed. Whatever the case, Burnett was back in jail less than a month later on grand theft charges.
Burnett apparently could decide which charge he liked better. He settled that whole debate by going to jail just two months later on grand theft AND furnishing a firearm to a minor charges. He threw a third charge of aggravated assault with firearm in just to make the stay more interesting.
Burnett was released from jail in December but made a triumphant return to jail just two months later after he was caught with with cocaine.
At this point, Burnett has learned Florida's "catch and release" program, so it should come as no surprise that he was arrested the very next month for multiple firearm charges and a fresh cocaine charge.
Finally the Judge laid down the gavel and gave Burnett a brief vacation from all that work by dolling out a limp wristed four months jail time.
Of course, that brings us up to now. Charged with fresh cocaine charges This time adding battery to the list of charges.
How does one walk around free with so many major offenses in just two years? That's Florida's catch and release program. Any questions as to why Florida is so screwed up now?
We didn't think so.

And I thought Texas laws were 'limp wristed'!
I always heard that Florida laws were tough. Man was I wrong. I don't remember what media I heard that from, but they are just flat wrong.
Simply...amazing.
Should be 3 strikes and you're out and by you're out I mean in prison.
All criminals should go to Florida... seems like they can get some great weather AND still do crime and be out by summer to enjoy it all.
Dang... no wonder the Cubans settled in Miami, dang Bautista supporters! Shame on them!
