Upper Darby, Pennsylvania (The Weekly Vice) - Kelly McCaw, a 29-year-old Pennsylvania woman has been arrested after police say she used her children as decoys during thefts to support her crack-cocaine habit.
According to Upper Darby police, McCaw allegedly admitted to investigators that she used her children to distract other women in stores, while she stole their wallets and handbags.
Police believe the woman used the tactic of using her children as decoys to commit at least five thefts in the Upper Darby area, according to police spokesperson Michael Chitwood.
McCaw allegedly approached shoppers with her 8-year-old daughter while carrying her 7-month-old daughter in a baby seat. She allegedly would ask them to grab something off the shelf for her, explaining that her hands were full and that she had a bad back. That's when police say she'd swipe the unwitting victim's wallet, purse or handbag.
McCaw drew police attention Thursday after an 80-year-old alleged victim confronted her at an Acme market after noticing right away that her pocketbook was missing. McCaw fled the scene, however a store employee was able to write down her license plate number.
Police tracked the woman to a run down apartment complex, where she and her boyfriend were squatting in an empty apartment.
McCaw has now been booked into the Delaware County Jail pending a $40,000 bail. She was charged with two counts of theft and receiving stolen property.
Authorities say the child was left in the care of her boyfriend.

So did you catch the real outrage here? Where were the children left? The boyfriend was found squatting in an empty apartment -police believe she's a crack addict, and yet the kids are left with him? Just incredible. And we wonder why they grow up nutty.
A mother strung out on drugs is bad, sad and unfortunate. But a police department who hasn't the good sense to get these children in a safe environment is absolutely asinine.

WTF? The guy is homeless and the cops are giving the kids to him? That is messed up, and no, I don't believe he's not taking drugs. If she is admitting to taking them, and out stealing to support the habit, then I seriously doubt he's clean.
She has been like this since she was a teenager. A person fitting her description is also wanted in Springfield, Nether Provence, and Marple. She has robbed from many others, a local nail salon, and CHI at Lawrence Park. Not to forget being wanted by the Marple Police. She is probably very sorry....only that she got caught. Her family are enablers and her children would be better in foster care than with them. The apples don't fall far in this family tree. Hopefully the police will connect all the dots and cross there T's and she will get exactly what she deserves. She has pulled off insurance scams and welfare. She has even gone as far to explode a car battery in her face (of course making sure that she was directly across the street from a fire department for their immediate assistance) and unsuccessfully attempted to sue the battery company. She needs to do hard time and the longer her sentence is---the better off her kids will be.
ok i kno kelly more then all you guys ok...she was a great person who loved her child...but her and her boyfriend got in alot of fights so cut her some slack...she needed the money for her children. and i bet she wasnt the only homeless person with a family that hates her...if you were kelly i bet you would have done the samething

Anyway, as to your comment, she was not stealing for the kids. She was stealing to support her crack habit you nut. Yeah, that really helps the kids alright.
Also, if she was fighting with her bf, then she should have left him. Making your kids live in squalor is a form of abuse and there is no excuse. No slack.
Kids aren't rag dolls and this woman broke stole from others because she can't get off her ass, clean up and get a real job.
Millions of others do it every day. There's no reason why she didn't. No reason at all.
