Johnny Lindner - Man Who Allegedly Robbed Convenience Store Returns To Ask For Directions. Cop At The Scene Directs Him To Jail

Bishopville, South Carolina (The Weekly Vice) -- Johnny Lindner, a 48-year-old South Carolina man may win this year's dumb criminal award after he allegedly robbed a convenience store at knife point, drove away and then returned to the scene of the crime to ask a cop for directions.

"I was there and I still don't believe it," said David Capps, the Bishipville police officer who's suspect returned to the robbery scene - making his job a whole lot easier.

According to police, Lindner walked into Young's food store in Bishopville, South Carolina and demanded cash and cigarettes at knife point. Lindner then fled the scene in a stolen pickup truck heading to Lydia - but headed in the wrong direction.

When the truck Lindner was fleeing in broke down, he walked to a nearby Burger King and called a taxi, requesting that the driver take him to Lydia. Since the driver wasn't sure where Lydia was, he stopped off at a store to ask for directions. The SAME store Lindner has allegedly robbed a short time later. It didn't take officers long to realize the taxi passenger was the man fit the description of who they were looking for.

Although Lindner originally denied knowing anything about a robbery, police found the cash and cigarettes on his person- not to mention the robbery had been captured on video.

Johnny Lindner was arrested on charges of armed robbery. He was also wanted for other charges out of Tennessee. He now faces up to 20 years in prison.
