St. Petersburg, Florida (The Weekly Vice) -- James Spencer Adams, a 63-year-old Florida man was arrested Thursday after he allegedly admitted to forcing the hook-end of a coat hanger down an 8-year-old boy's throat.
According to investigators, Adams allegedly admitted to "guiding" a coat hanger down the throat of the boy and then explained to police how he wiped the blood off the hanger.
Authorities say Adams "did willfully torture, and maliciously punish the child," in reference to Adams admitted actions. Medical examiners say the child suffered damage to his tonsils, soft palate and posterior pharynx during the incident.
While police have yet to establish a motive for Adam's behavior, he told police he was simply wrestling with the boy before plunging the hanger down his throat. Authorities weren't so passive about it and believe there is far more to his intentions than he's been willing to admit.
This isn't the first time Adams has drawn the attention of both police and neighbors. According to court records, Adams has acquired a couple of DUI's and has allegedly managed to infuriate his neighbors.
One such neighbor, Don Teal, spoke about his ordeals with Adams, stating he has called police several times including an incident where Adams allegedly threw weights on his roof at night and scratching up his truck.
"[the police] go over there and tell him to knock it off, so he knocks it off for a few months. Then he starts up again for no reason at all," said Teal.
Adams has been charged with aggravated child abuse (as seen above). He was jailed on a $100,000 bond.
The victim is currently recovering at All Children's Hospital and is expected to be released soon.
The Weekly Vice Opinion:
Once in awhile I include the actual arrest affidavit in a story to remind our readers where these stories come from. Read the comments. Just about every story has one joker who posts "you can't believe everything the media tells you."
Well, that may be true in some cases - however on this site, we aren't concerned with what the media says. We draw our data from what the arrest affidavit says and what the jail intake records say.
Those who relentlessly complain that " nobody knows the whole story " are really sort of pissing in the wind. We don't care what the whole story is - we care about what the charge is and whether the person committed it. We provide a little background from each story so the reader understands what police think happened. This of course does NOT mean the police are always right.
We've update the cases that were later overturned or dropped. Unfortunately, that doesn't happen very often. To date I think 3 Weekly Vice stories failed to result in a conviction and we promptly updated those. Two of those stories were because the family decided to stop the pain of a trial, not because the suspect was found innocent. If you know of any case where a suspect was exonerated, we want to know about it.
Until then, we'll continue to report each story as closely to the arrest affidavit as we can.

That is one wild eyed gramps alright. Off to the padded room for him.
BTW, I read the comment section and just wanted to add: one of the reasons why I like this site is because you DO back up your material with links to jail report or police press release. Not everytime, but more times than not.
Not very many sites do that. I think that's one reason why blogs are growing in traffic while news sites and newspapers are going bankrupt.
Keep up the good work Dano
Oh. My. God. How can someone do that to a child? Padded room my ass. He needs a jail cell...cold concrete and bright orange for you, gramps.
Just fry his ass already!!!
