Delta, British Columbia (The Weekly Vice) -- Twelve high school cheerleaders have landed in a little hot water after redefining school spirit by sprinting half naked across a football field wearing nothing but panties and carefully positioned duct tape.
Cheerleaders at the South Delta Secondary School in Delta, British Columbia shocked fans and players during a high school football game they ran out onto the field at halftime wearing little more than bootie shorts, thongs and carefully located duct tape.
The scantily clad teens dashed out onto the field on an October 28 game, and doused the opposing players with silly string, as wives smacked the backs of their husband's heads. Rubbernecking was clearly unavoidable.
The school's principal, Ted Johnson, wasn't amused with the event, insisting "we don't take it lightly. In schools, we hold higher ideals than we do, in say, the mall." School officials say they warned the girls last month to cancel the planned half-time prank, but those warnings obviously were ignored.
"Our position is that we don't celebrate this. We don't find it funny," said Johnson.
The cheerleaders expressed that they were sawwry, by writing apology notes to the opposing team, but insisted the event was a "harmless prank."
"It's just kind of like a fun [graduation] prank for our year and it's been going on for a couple of years now," said Rochelle, one of the cheerleaders. "It was pretty much out of fun."
"At least we have team spirit," said another girl.
The principal still wasn't buying the 'tradition' argument, warning the girls that they would be suspended if the did anything else like that again.

Vancouver BC has more topless bars than any other city.
I agree with the girls that this is pretty harmless.
Of course, I disagree with the early sexualization of females and am very disturbed by the growing trend of younger teens trading nude pictures (online and texting), but at least this wasn't a case of the teens being victimized.
Harmless- and probably was directly responsible for the spike in high school football game attendance!
