Florida Deputies Arrest Five After Entering A Home Filled With 11 Dogs, 7 Adults, 2 Kids And A Smell So Bad, You Could Smell It From The Street

Tampa, Florida (The Weekly Vice) -- Hillsborough County deputies arrested five people on felony animal cruelty and confinement charges Saturday after authorities walked into a house with kids, sick dogs, parasites and a "heapin' helpin'" of dog excrement.

Hillsborough County animal control officers walked in on a horrific site while following up on a report from a distressed landlord who told them his rental property stunk so bad, the odor could be smelled from the street.

When animal control and deputies entered the property, they found 11 dogs that were anemic, malnurished, covered in parasites and caked with feces. The odor of feces and urine, which soaked large areas of carpet was overpowering.

Animal services inspected the dogs and found that four of them needed immediate medical attention including one dog who's leg had swollen to twice it's regular size, according to the arrest report. Authorities also found the dogs confined to a small room that was covered with feces and had no food or water.

"The dogs were living in their own excrement," said the sheriff's office report.

Besides the five adults and 11 dogs, investigators also found two young children living in the deplorable conditions.

The situation was discovered after a Realtor visited the home on behalf of the homeowner who rented the property. The homeowner then contacted animal control who then contacted the Hillsborough Sheriff's Office.

All five adults were charged with four counts of felony cruelty to animals and 11 counts of misdemeanor confinement of animals - without food and water.

The five adults who were arrested include (from left to right above): Cindy Overton, 45, Irven Brend, 39, Sheila Overton, 18, Craig Overton, 20, Cedrick Wilson. 24.

All five were booked into the Hillsborough County Jail (Orient Rd. Jail) pending a $13,500 bond for each person.

But Wait, There's More!

Craig Overton has a prior offense of theft back in Sept. 2007

Cedrick Wilson however shouldn't be around kids, as he was arrested for sexual battery on a 4 year old girl among burglary, drug paraphernalia, burglary and grand theft charges

The Weekly Vice Opinion:

Now this is one screwed up family, and even worse friends. These kids need to be taken out of this home. Cedrick, being the complete loser he is, shouldn't even be walking the streets.

You know, there are just some folks who desperately need to be taken out of the gene pool and put into a facility for their own good. Perhaps the young girl here can be saved - but I don't have much hope for the rest of these. Even Cotten-Eye Joe would run for dear life from this gnarly group.

okay, okay, I'm convinced! I will never ever live in that God forsaken redneck hell called Florida.

I never realized that state was such a serious sewer.

Wow. The arrest record said he spent 49 days in jail for that sexaul battery on the 4 year old. Please tell me he was transferred to a prison after that.

Crazyaquariusgirl,

It's a highly gaurded secret. They all hide under rocks when tourists arrive and then come out when they leave.

Believe it or not, I skip over dozens of similar stories out of Florida each day. I try to focus on those that have a twist to them. Or those that the mainstream media won't run.

But rest assured, you're seeing only a fraction of what really goes on down there.

Oh, btw, DOMAW, I noticed that cedrick was not booked into the Orient Rd. Jail - or seems to have been transferred.

I'll check again tonight and see if it was just a clerical error - jail intake records aren't always accurate.

I have a feeling he was violating parole/probation on at least one (and most likely more) instances.

He may also have warrants out for him in another county.

I think he'll be in jail for awhile

well that's reassuring...lol

It says all five were charged with four counts of felony cruelty to animals and 11 counts of misdemeanor confinement of animals...what about these two young children? Where is their justice for having to live such a horrid life not of their choosing?

Danny Vice said...

I suspect their justice is finally getting to go a day or two without living in hellastink.

It might not sound like much to you, but damn. From where they're coming from, it's like going from a tricycle to a porsche.

Yes, but I just didn't understand how the adults here got no charges for having children living in such conditions.

Danny Vice said...

Ahhh, gotcha....

Well, there are a lot of charges that could and should have been brought. Cedrick for example shouldn't have even been around kids. He has a prior arrest for sexual assault on a 4 year old girl, robbery, burglary, etc.

It's obvious this family treated the kids about as well as they treated the dogs.
