Summerside, Prince Edward Island (The Weekly Vice) -- Erica Diane Desroches, a 22-year-old P.E.I. woman was arrested Wednesday and charged with multiple assault charges after police say she and another woman attacked a man with a hammer.
According to Summerside police, officers responded to an assault report Tuesday night to find a 40-year-old man suffering serious facial and head injuries. Emergency responders transported the man to Prince County Hospital where he received several stitches to his face and head.
After interviewing the man, authorities arrested a 40-year-old Wilmot Valley woman and charged her with assault casing bodily injuries. She was released on a promise to appear back in court on January 14.
Authorities were more interested in finding Desroches, who wasn't arrested until police had the bright idea of checking her house Wednesday night. She was taken into custody and charged with aggravated assault, assault causing bodily harm and possession of a weapon dangerous to the public. She is being held without bail until her next appearance in court on Nov. 20.
The two women and the victim all knew each other, according to Deputy Chief, Dave Griffin.
