UPDATE: Child in sexual assault dies
Unfortunately we have some sad news to report. The child in the case below has now died as a result of the abuse she suffered at the hands of Brian Crabtree who admitted to sexually abusing the toddler and then dropping her on her head, knocking the girl unconscious. There is some confusion as to whether the child passed on Tuesday or Wednesday, however the death has been confirmed. We expect the charges - as listed below - will be re-evaluated by prosecutors soon and likely upgraded to manslaughter or murder.

Lexington, Kentucky (The Weekly Vice) -- Brian Matthew Crabtree, an 18-year-old Kentucky man has been charged with rape and assault on a three-year-old girl.
According to police, Crabtree has been charged with first-degree rape, first-degree sexual abuse and first-degree assault after he allegedly admitting to police that he attacked and raped a three-year-old toddler. Police say Crabtree also admitted to dropping the child several feet to the floor.
According to police, officers were called to an apartment complex off Cummins Court in Lexington where they found an unresponsive child who belonged to Crabtree's roommate.
Police haven't released many details about what exactly took place, but said the attack likely occurred sometime between late Tuesday, early Wednesday morning. Authorities described the toddler's injuries as severe, including head trauma and multiple injuries to other parts of her body.
The child was originally taken to St. Joseph East Hospital, but was then transferred to UK hospital. As of Thursday, news of the little girl's condition has not been released.
Crabtree was booked into the Fayette County Detention Center. He appeared in court Wednesday afternoon, where he pleaded not guilty to the charges - despite his early admission of guilt, according to court documents.

We can only hope that hell reserves a special section where the ass-burning coals burn bright for twisted, toilet fodder like this. We're not impressed with his 'change of heart' not-guilty plea after lawyering up.
Police have been very tight lipped thus far on the case, so PLEASE, if any family members can shed some light on the little girl's condition, please let us know.
The only reports we have thus far is that the injuries to the child were graphic - and that the little girl was unresponsive when emergency personell arrived. We are VERY concerned about this case!
Our prayers go out to this little girl's family. As for you, Crabtree, there is no pit in hell deep enough or hot enough for the likes of you.

This man's death cannot be nearly slow or painful enough.
Cases like this is where you'd wish vigilante justice was legal.

If this happened as it seems to be reported as happening.. then I can only say I am in awe of what evil must have come over this young man. However, I've met this person and I although I realize people aren't always what they seem, he seemed harmless and child like even. To which I honestly wonder if he wasn't somehow misled into some sort of admission that was not viewed objectively. It sincerely breaks my heart for this little girl and who ever is behind this should be punished severely. But what I do know from having connections with this group of people personally, is that there is speculation and accusations that one or both parents had abused the children before. I think before we go knotting a rope in a tree for Brian Crabtree, we should wait and find out all the facts. And it was my understanding that the judge entered the plea for Crabtree as there was NO lawyer. No that he changed his statement after lawyering up. But as I stated before, the young man seemed almost childlike and not capable of this degree of evil. So let us hope we are able to find out exactly what happened and who was involved, and then, only God could have mercy on their soul.

Anonymous, the police have already investigated this case and have come to a conclusion. Now if you're suggesting the investigators just completely bungled the case - then that's one thing. But the case has already been built and Crabtree admitted to several things.
And considering this girl is now dead, I am not going to knot a rope. Just simply hanging him is not justice.
This little girl spent nearly a week tortured by her injuries before finally losing her fight.
Only the slow torturous death of this man would EVER begin to approach the rhelm of justice.

Even in the world of criminals there are certain crimes that are UNACCEPTABLE... this one tops the list... childlike my @ss... he committed a crime that children dont commit... hope he gets ALL that he deserves
Yes, it's sad that this kind of evil persists. If indeed Brian was abused he has already had his TIME to get help which he apparently needed. This little innocent child doesn't get any help. He ended that. Now he will have to admit to himself that he is just as evil as those whom did things to him. But he lived.

I can only agree with all of the others in this blog that would like to get their hands on this young man. I live in Lexington and have connections, all be it very distant, to the mothers side and her boyfriend. I did not know the little girl, but have a three year old daughter of my own. In my case, there would be no formal justice. I could not stand by and let this young man live if I was the father of that you girl. The moment he admitted to doing either of the offenses to my little girl would be the moment of his last breath! People like this piece of s$@t deserve to be put to death the moment they admit to such a horrible crime. May he set in unrest in the flames for eternity!
This man deserves everything that comes to him. He is not childlike and whoever said that is an idiot. I read in the Herald Leader that his attorney said that he didn't know how to read or write, but Crabtree told police that he graduated high school. If I am not mistaken he graduated from the same high school that I did. My friend was in a math class with the child's aunt and she let us know that the man was trying to plead insanity, like most assholes, by sitting in his cell and rocking back and forth. This just aggravates me. I hope that he is found guilty sent to prison and put on death row, and before he gets the chair or whatever, he gets whats coming to him by his fellow inmates. Like someone said before me, even men in prison do not stand for this kind of stuff.
I rank this right up there with the case of the little girl in Florida and her sick stupid mother.

I'm one of her cousins. Though I'm not extremely family oriented, it is still a shame that I haven't even had a chance to get to know this girl. Even as closed off as I am, I'd still have nothing better in mind than skinning this bastard.
Does anyone know when this scumbag goes to court or if he has already & what was he sentenced if so? I am not able to find a status of the case anywhere. Thanks!
I don't know Brian, but I know his dad and he is in prison now for molesting an 8 year old girl. His grandfather, who has passed away was also a child molester, but he never got caught. Molesting children seems to run in the family on his father's side. I have no doubt that Brian was molested as a child, however that is no excuse for what he did.
