Orange County, Florida (The Weekly Vice) -- Well here we go again. Another instance of the media running wild with a story before it's confirmed or properly sourced.
In the last few days, the media in Florida - and then the national media - have all broadcast articles and newscasts that report Scott Peterson is writing letters to Casey Anthony.
But now, the news source that has been most sourced in the story (OrlandoSentinel.com) has changed it's story. The URL that was used to post the story is now dead and a new story was posted with the following title.
"Convicted killer Scott Peterson NOT writing Casey Anthony in jail"
It turns out that after the story surfaced, officials began checking it out and came to quite the opposite conclusion.
Authorities say Anthony has never received a letter from Scott Peterson and there is no record indicating that she has written to him.
A spokesperson for Casey Anthony's lawyer, Jose Baez, said that Anthony has received a letter from a California resident with the last name of Peterson, but she has received no letter from Peterson at the Orange County jail.
Scott Peterson is a death row inmate at the San Quentin prison following his conviction for the murder of wife Laci Peterson and their unborn child three years ago. Casey Anthony is currently in jail on accusations that she murdered her daughter Caylee Anthony. She has also been charged with aggravated manslaughter, aggravated child abuse and lying to investigators.
So how did the rumor get started? Apparently someone at the jail Casey has been incarcerated at (who remains unnamed) mentioned that Anthony received a letter from Peterson, however those sources are now reported to have never actually seen the letter.
Officials at San Quentin prison have stated from the beginning that the prison does not track Peterson's mail and that even if it did, it is not considered a public record. Letters are however monitored for contra ban, of course.
So at this point, the entire story was put together without a legitimate source, without a single pair of eyeballs on a single letter and no official that has confirmed anything but the exact opposite being the case. We do commend OrlandoSentinel for manning up and pulling it's story, while other media sources have yet to give up the ghost.
Several national media outlets however, continued to run with the story today like a "D" cup diva in a wet t-shirt - citing the same unnamed, unconfirmed sources even after officials have largely debunked those details.
What is factual news however is the litany of photo evidence that has now been released by prosecutors who are pursuing murder charges against Casey Anthony.
The photos show the ongoing parties of a carefree Casey Anthony in the days after her little girl Caylee Anthony went "missing". Dancing in bars, partying with friends and flirting with men were all a part of the "grieving process" Casey appears to have endured just days after her daughter disappeared. Other photos show Casey making withdrawals and the various purchases Casey made around the time of the disappearance. You can see these photos here.

Nice catch Danny, I looked up the links here and you're right. The FOX article sourced OS AFTER OS had already pulled it's story. Someone isn't paying very good attention.
But that match made in hell would have been perfect for Halloween. You should let them have their fanatasy. haha
