Port St. Lucie, Florida (The Weekly Vice) -- Kevin Franco, a 33-year-old Port St. Lucie man has been arrested after allegedly binding his estranged wife's hands and taping her mouth shut in attempt to force her to listen.
Port St. Lucie authorities were flagged down just before 4:00 a.m. Friday morning by 28-year-old Jamie Franco who begged deputies "Please get him away from me. He wants to kill himself and he's dangerous."
The person the woman was referring to was her estranged husband, Kevin Franco, a man she was in the process of divorcing.
Jamie Franco told sheriff's deputies that she awoke a short time earlier to find her estranged husband on top of her, binding her wrists with plastic ties and duct taping her mouth closed.
She told investigators that when she struggled to get free, he put his hands around her neck to hold her down, according to the arrest affidavit.
At some point in the struggle, Kevin Franco left the room to tear the phone lines out of the walls. During his absence, she reportedly broke free from the bindings and called 911 on her cell phone while exiting the house.
During questioning, investigators say Kevin Franco admitted to taping the woman's mouth closed in attempt to make her listen to him. He told investigators he was not suicidal but did not want to live without the woman.
Investigators discovered that Kevin Franco had an outstanding warrant for his arrest and was in violation of an injunction that prohibited him from having contact with his wife, according to the arrest affidavit.
Kevin Franco was taken into custody at his home on charges of felony false imprisonment, domestic battery, violation of a domestic injunction and depriving someone of the use of 911.
He was booked into the St. Lucie County Jail pending a $10,000 bond.
