Bradenton, Florida (The Weekly Vice) -- Deborah Tanner, a 56-year-old Manatee County, Florida woman has been arrested on charges that she stabbed her husband with two steak knives after deciding he "needed a rest".
Deborah Tanner's 79-year-old husband Harold, who suffers from Alzheimer's disease, was laying in bed at around 11 am Tuesday when the alleged attack occurred.
The Manatee County Sheriff's office says Tanner stabbed her husband in the neck with two steak knives at the same time as he was lying in bed. Tanner then called 911.
When sheriff's deputies arrived, Tanner met them at the front door, admitting she had stabbed her husband. She told deputies that she stabbed the man because she thought "He needed a rest."
Tanner's son William was asleep in a bedroom at he time of the attack and was not aware anything had happened until deputies arrived at the home.
Harold Tanner was flown to Bayfront Medical Center by Bayflite where he is currently listed in stable condition.
Deborah Tanner was arrested and booked into the Manatee County Jail. One source reports the charge as aggravated battery. Another sources lists the charge as attempted murder. The Manatee County Sheriff's Office site was down when we attempted to pull the booking report. We'll update the story just as soon as it's back up
