Dania Beach, Florida (The Weekly Vice) -- David J. Mlynick, a 23-year-old south Florida man was arrested on allegations that he used a BB gun to rob a Dania Beach Publix supermarket. What was the BB gun bandit after that he needed so desperately? Authorities say it was a can of deoderant spray.
Robbery might not be a white collar crime for most, but apparently it was for one man who allegedly stole a can of deodorant and then used a BB gun the make a 'clean' getaway.
Witnesses at the scene told Broward County authorities that they saw two men steal deodorant spray from the store shelf and then exited the building without paying for the items.
A store manager found the suspect inside another store next door and asked Mlynick to return the deodorant. That's when witnesses say Mlynick pulled out what appeared to be a black handgun and attempted to escape.
Expecting the worst, Broward County deputies put an area school on lock-down and cordoned off an apartment complex while searching for the fleeing man. Police dogs and a helicopter was used to find the man, who was promptly arrested. Police also confiscated the BB gun and the deodorant which were still in the man's possession at the time of his arrest.
Mlynick was booked into the Broward County jail on a $50,000 bond.
