Portland, Tennessee (The Weekly Vice) -- Sandra Binkley, a 36-year-old math teacher at Portland high School in Portland, Tennessee has been arrested and charged with statutory rape by an authority figure after police say she had sex with a 17-year-old student.
According to Portland police, Brinkley allegedly had sex with a male student in March during school hours while other students were in the building.
Portland police learned about the alleged one time incident after the student told his parents who then contacted the school principal.
"My son called and told me what had happened and I was very upset," said boy's parent, Fred Rogers.
According to school officials, Binkley has been suspended without pay pending the outcome of the case.
"The Sumner County School District will not tolerate the type of behavior alleged in this incident for any of it's employees," said Sumner County Schools spokesperson Jeremy Johnson.
Binkley was arrested on Thursday and booked into the Sumner County jail. She was released after posting a $5,000 bond.

Sandra Binkley surrendered to police on Wednesday on three new sex charges involving additional students. Authorities say Binkley had sexual relationships with two additional students at the school.
Investigators say Binkley has sexual contact with the first student in a classroom closet on two seperate occasions. Once in November 2007 and again in August 2008. Binkley allegedly had sex with the second student in a vehicle that was parked in the driveway of the student's home.
Binkley now faces three counts of statutory rape by an authority figure and one count of sexual batter by an authoritiy figure. All felony charges.

When I was dating, I had more than 1 boyfriend who said he lost his virginity to an older woman. Most were next door neighbors or their friends' mom's. But none of them saw anything wrong with it and actually thought it was pretty cool. So did all their friends(and some of their dad's!).

For the record, you should research the word pedophilia and pedophile. This isn't a case of pedophilia. Pedo's like children who are pre-pubescent. I'm 99.99999% sure a 17yo male is past that point.
im a mother of six children they all went to portland high five of them had sandra as a teacher. i trusted her then and i would still trust her now. if this happened then the boy had as much to do with it as she did. if it was my son he would have to prove to me that it was all her before i yelled rape. sandy if you are reading this i wish you luck and know we stand behind you all the way. you are in my prayers.

I am also a Portland graduate. And I think she should be fired, and not allowed to teach ever again. If she doesn't have the basic self control that it takes to keep her hands to herself, there is no way I'd let her teach MY son.
Sandy Binkley -- I was one of her students at Portland High School [graduated in 2003]. She was my favorite teacher. Reguardless of the situation, I still have respect for her. It takes two to have sex, not just one. The boy was 17. Grown enough to know what he was doing. I'm pretty sure Binkley didn't have to hold him down. Yes Sandra's friend, you should pray for her. Two more children have come forward in this case according to local news. And Ive heard rumors that she had brought alchohol to parties for some boys. Thats just the most recent rumor, but so was her having sex with a child. She made a mistake and has admitted to it so dont blame the child for telling someone about it. You cant tell me you wouldn't go to the police about your 17yr old having sex with a 36yr old teacher. Would you ask your child to prove it was rape?

With regard to the 2003 grads post and sandras freind post. Yes she was a nice woman and very freindly. When I was in her class she was very helpful and never inappropriate. But the argument it takes two to tango is absurd. We are talking multiple students, you cant make that argument for all of them. I suspect there will even be more. There were these rumors back when I had her six years or so ago.

Portland in itself sucks. It is amazing the rumors that fly from one idiot to the other. I had Mrs. Binkley for Geometry, and she was the only good math teacher at that school. She's admitted to it. There won't be a trial. She will plead guilty and then she will be sentenced.
I was her student when she got arrested and she was very inappropriate in the classroom. i know the boys and dont think they are lying. she is an older woman who should have known better. she deserves what she gets.

I never had her as a teacher but there were always rumors flying around about her. We were actually told that she supposedly got a basket filled with condoms and a thong one year from a student.
