Brogan and Damico MySpace Profile
Sacramento, California (The Weekly Vice) -- Raymond R. Brogan, 41, and Carol Ann Damico, 33, have been arrested on suspicion of bilking almost $200,000 in life insurance benefits from a grief stricken woman who's son was recently killed in a Marine Corps training exercise.
Joyce Guzman recently lost her son Lance Cpl Kyle Guzman, an Iraq war veteran, during a Marine Corps training exercise.
When it came time to handling the death benefits, Guzman's half sister Carol Damico appeared to come to the rescue, promising Guzman that she in her boyfriend would help get the grieving woman's death benefits arranged. In fact, the day after her the funeral, Damico began shuffling paperwork, asking Guzman to sign various forms so that benefits could be paid, according to prosecutors.
Carol Damico and her boyfriend Raymond Brogan did get the paperwork filed, and the insurance company did pay the death benefit. But when the money arrived, authorities say they got busy spending that money of themselves to the tune of $195,350.
According to court documents, Damico and Brogan began spending the money on various high dollar purchases like two personal watercraft, a motorcycle, breast augmentation surgery for Damico, furniture and even a sport utility vehicle.
Investigators say when Guzman became suspicious of how the funds were being handled, the couple forged bank statements purporting an account had been set up in her name with more than $177,000 in that account. Investigators believe however that those funds were quickly being depleted as the couple purchased high dollar merchandise without Guzman's approval.
This is not the first time Brogan has had trouble with the law. Prosecutors say Raymond Brogan has past convictions for burglary, transportation of a controlled substance, bounced checks, domestic violence and assault with a deadly weapon.
Police say Brogan was arrested on Saturday while Damico was arrested at the couple's home in Roseville on Tuesday.
Brogan and Damico were booked into the Sacramento County Jail. Damico was released on a $50,000 bond, while Brogan remains jailed without bond.
Both suspects appeared in Federal Court on Tuesday for a preliminary hearing. If convicted, each faces up to 30 years in prison.

To add insult to injury, notice the couple's MySpace page. First go to the pictures page. At the time of this writing, Carol and Raymond proudly displayed all of their shiny new toys, paid for with the death benefits left by veteran Lance Cpl. Guzman.
All the while, the SAME MySpace page states "In Loving Memory LCPL Kyle Guzman. You will be truly missed." It's just amazing how self centered an disgusting some people can be.

Well,according to the MySpace page. They're earning $250,000+ yearly. I'm sure the I.R.S. would be interested in their accounting methods. I'm gonna guess they're not claiming that amount on their tax forms. Also,I noticed the maudlin nature of how they are portraying their love for one another on that page. I'll take another guess....as to how this will go down.
She's going to turn against him. She's going to save her own ass. He'll do the larger sentence if both are given time to serve. And.... While he sits in jail,she will be making love to other men and looking for a new prince charming.

My guess is this...they will both get off with minimal sentences (probation for the girl, 2 years for the man. The mother actually signed a lot of documents and more then likely gave them the right to do what they did. The reason the man is in jail on a no bail hold is because he has a criminal past.
The thing that is most telling about these people is the blowing of the money on stupid things. It seems that the entire family was made up of sad losers and now for a brief moment they had the opportunity to access funds. They did what losers always do...buy cars and things with no return. I am suprised they paid for the breast implants...that is something that actually has a return.
Another thing...she is not that hot. She will probably wait for him to get out. They deserve each other. You can't help stupid people by giving them money...look at Britney Spears...

They did have the woman sign a power of attorney mixed in with other forms - however they allegedly forged the bank statements, which tells police that they maliciously mislead the woman.
It does go to show you, you can NEVER not read everything you are signing
