Petersburg, Indiana (The Weekly Vice) -- Luke A. Musselwhite, a 26-year-old former teacher at Pike Central High School in Petersburg, Indiana has been arrested on accusations that he sent more than 200 text messages - including messages that were sexual in nature - to 17-year-old student.
According to authorities, Musselwhite was arrested around 1:30 Tuesday afternoon on preliminary charges of disseminating harmful material to a minor and contributing to the delinquency of a minor after police say he sent hundreds of text messages to a student.
Investigators say the messages, which became sexual in nature at times, were sent to the student between October and November of 2007.
Musselwhite turned himself into Pike County authorities and was then booked into the Pike County Jail on a $2,500 bond.

200 message in two months? Humm...that breaks down to 25 messages per week, every week, week after week.

LOL @ danny vice. 7 a day every day is not a lot. and that equaling to 200 in 2 mths. thats not bad. i average over a hundred a day.

wtf is up with teachers texting students. shouldnt they be grading papers or something.

Actually, 200 messages in two months equals 100 per month, or 25 per week -- slightly more than three a day.

Amylynn there is definately more to the story. There was another teacher being investigated for text messaging the SAME girl, however he took his own life yesterday or the day before.
I am curious to know where her parents are? As a parent of a now 18 yr old, I can say that I knew the phone numbers of the messages she received, and verified them. How can a girl that is 17 receive that many texts and her mom and dad not notice? Plus, she had texts to other male teachers? Sounds like she was encouraging them?
I know she is young and they were wrong to take advantage of her, but come on mom and dad, step up and be parents
you guys have no idea what you are talking about, it was not the same girl that they were texting, it was two different girls... shut up i go to the school so i think i would kno, and no the girl wasnt encouraging them either

That is good news.
The obvious question is, how did the former teacher get her phone number to be able to text her? Someone gave it to him, and I'd bet my bottom dollar that SHE, THE STUDENT gave it to him. There is a reason that law enforcement arrest the prostitute and "john". Both are culpable! I'm tired of the double standard that exist regarding teacher/student relationships. If the genders were reversed, the female teacher may not have been arrested.
