Rockville, Maryland (The Weekly Vice) -- Theresa Cunningham Duarte, a 44-year-old former English teacher at Thomas S. Wootton High School in Rockville, Maryland has been arrested on accusations that she distributed cocaine to students.
According to police, Duarte was arrested on Monday and charged with two counts of distribution of a controlled dangerous substance and two counts of contributing to conditions of a child.
Detectives with the Montgomery County Family Crimes Division were contacted by child protective services who informed them that Duarte had distributed cocaine to at least two Wootton High School students from her home, according to police spokesperson Lucille Baur and a Montgomery County Press release.
Authorities also say the alleged drug activity took place on more than one occasion.
School district officials say the Duarte resigned her position with the school at the conclusion of the 2007-2008 school year. Her resignation came prior to an investigation into the alleged drug-related activity and no reason was provided for her departure.
Duarte was booked into the Montgomery County Jail, however was released after posting a $150,000 bond.

If that is her "mug shot", I'm appalled that it looks like she's enjoying her 15 minutes of fame. What a shame to let someone like her have access to our children. I can't believe that someone that pushes drugs like that doesn't have a darker past that would let authorities know she wasn't fit to teach our children. Police should really dig into her past and interview everyone they can to make sure she pays.........

As a Rockville Parent, I agree that her "smiling" during her mug shot leads one to believe she has a darker past. Leads to many questions.... Maybe she's been doing drugs for some time.......And, what was her husband doing? Is he involved also? And, how many more kids will come forward. I also understand she has a child.......How about child services looking into how the child is being taken care of........Too many questions.......As far as I am concerned, the police should dig into her past as far as possible...... Just a terrible person. Oh.......she should get that "white streak" taken care of..........
Yeah, it does look like a spider crawled up into her hair and built a nest. Kinda fits though, doesn't it?
The following is all documented in the Rockville, MD polilce department records.
Prior to Duarte's arrest and subsequent conviction of cocaine distribution, she was found responsible for her two pit bull mix pets escaping her house and roaming nearly a mile from the house. They ultimately were caught by Rockville Police, but not before terrorizing residents along the way and biting a teenager in front of his own house. The youth suffered deep bite punctures in his leg and fended off the dogs by falling into some bushes and kicking the dogs in their faces.
The City held a hearing and Duarte and her dogs got off relatively easy. Because the youth's doctor only used one stitch to close the wound, the city's arbitrator was compelled to not sentence the dogs to death. They got to return to obedience school, stay on a leash, and suffer the embarrassment of signs in the house's front window, warning neighbors of their dangerous tendencies.
Now that Duarte will be in jail for six months, who will be caring for the pit bulls? Oh, yes, she is single and has a middle school daughter too.
Could there have been any link between the keeping of these "pets" and the fact that she distributed cocaine from her home? Not the coolest teacher ever!
That isn't her mugshot. That is her I.D. for school. In her real mugshot she is sobbing becuase these alleged accusations were ultimatly false and ruined her life and the outcome of a young teenager not wanting to get into trouble with her daddy. Theresa Duarte is a Roman Catholic moral person. She would never do something like that.
