Holladay, Utah (The Weekly Vice) -- Barton Jason Lewis Bagnes, a 31 year old registered sex offender who resides with his parents in Holladay, Utah has been arrested on and charged with a total of 14 charges of lewdness involving a child after police say Bagnes repeatedly wore a diaper and then exposed his diaper to children.
According to police and neighbors, Bagnes has become well known to local neighbors as 'Diaper Boy' for putting on a diaper and then encouraging children to come see it.
Authorities arrested Bagnes on Thursday after he allegedly exposed his diaper to children at the Evergreen Rec Center in East Mill Creek. An employee spottedBagnes engaged in lewd acts with children near the center and called police who arrested him a short time later.
The charges come just one week after Bagnes was charged with 11 counts of lewdness involving a child for an incident that occurred in October, 2007.
In 2000, Bagnes was required to register as a sexual offender after his conviction for a similar crime involving young children. His alias on the Utah sex offender registry is listed as 'Boy Diaper'.
The Salt Lake County Sheriff's Office expressed their frustration with the repeated offenses.
'We're frustrated because we've arrested him numerous times and it seems like he's back out on the street,' said Lt. Paul Jarascok of the Salt Lake County Sheriff's Office.
According to a spokesperson for the Salt Lake County District Attorneys Office, lewdness with a child is a class A misdemeanor with a maximum punishment of a year in jail.
“Our hands are tied,” said prosecutors office spokesperson Alicia Cook. “No matter how many counts, it can’t be enhanced to a felony.”
