Frostburg, Maryland (The Weekly Vice) -- Autumn Lee Leathers, a 24-year-old English teacher at Mountain Ridge High School in Frostburg, Maryland has been arrested on accusations of repeatedly having sex with 15 year old student.
Leathers was arrested Wednesday on multiple sex charges including: 2nd-degree custodial child abuse, fourth-degree sex offense, perverted practice and 2nd-degree assault.
According to police, the alleged victim told investigators that he had engaged in sexual intercourse with the teacher in May, 2008. He also told investigators that he and the teacher repeatedly has sex at her home over the course of the last three months.
Frostburg authorities obtained a warrant to search Leathers' residence and say they have obtained evidence that supported the victim's statements.
A spokesperson for the Allegany County Board of Educations said that Leathers has been placed on administrative leave without pay pending a further recommendations from the superintendent of schools.
Autumn Leathers has been booked into the Allegany County Detention Center and is being held on a $25,000 bond pending her next court appearance.

Not only that, but they could have any number of "legal" guys.. and push those away to jump in the sack with a 15 year old. If they are infatuated with youth, well they could have that - but good God, must they go for 12 and 15 year olds?
What I don't understand is why they always assume the kid will never tell anyone. Of COURSE they are going to eventually tell SOMEONE.... why wouldn't they?
I think it's the curiousity of seeing these kids every day wondering what it would be like to teach them something sexual.... and finally the curiosity gets the best of them.

I clarify: A teacher should not be a best friend OR a lover. I am against the concept of what happened. My point is that the TEACHER has to keep that distance from ALL students. She/he is the adult. And I know Ms. Leathers personally!!
I think people need to remember that in this country, under our legal system, the accused is innocent until proven guilty.
Thanks anonymous, but we don't need you to remind us of that. Everyone is well aware of the fact that a person gets their day in court. However very few of these cases get this far without something tangible to go on besides a mere allegation PLUS, investigators have already said they have compiled some evidence.
If you read the story, note how the kid described the inside of her home with accuracy.
Now this doesn't mean she slept with him but it certainly lends credibility to the allegations in addition to the other items investigators found.
But let's say they still have no proof they slept together...
Having a student inside your home for ANY reason is already crossing boundries. What is the purpose?
People are certainly allowed to start forming an opinion before a judge tells them they are allowed to have on... that includes you as well anonymous

To the previous "anonymous" - If you would read the story, he was spotted by a neighbor. He didn't necessarily tell anyone.
He may have been spotted with the teacher, but yes, he did tell investigators about the sex and in fact gave a detailed description of the inside of her house.
That's one way authorities try to find gaps in the alleged victim's story... see if he can accurately identify certain things like her house, markings on her body, freckles, birthmarks, etc etc.
Police say that those type of questions were accurate answered, which is what prompted the arrest warrant.
This girl was my BEST FRIEND growing up. I just found out about this and I cant believe this. Im sad for her family. They are sweet people. This is a discrace on her family and her home town. She comes from a small town and we all know about it. Sad. Stupid. Unbelieveable.

First of all her name is not Mrs. Leathers. Her name is Autumn.
Second of all I grew up with this girl. We lived in the same town and not one moment of her upbringing suggests that she would do this. I do not believe it. I just don't I don't think she did what this kid says. She was naive if anything. Why if they had the evidence to convict her did they let her plead to the least charge possible? She doesn't even have to register perminately on the offenders list. Why would the police do this unless they were unsure she even did anything.
